I been looking into mig welders for some simple welding work, nothing extreme, just some body work and some exhaust work. Something that would work off a regular 120v in my garage. I looked at a few and been reading reviews, I have read that the east wood is a good deal, it has good reviews and there company swears by it

Eastwood MIG135 MIG Welder 110VAC 135 Amp Output Welding | eBay

But I also stumbled along this one looking around

MIG 110V 135Amp Gas No Gas Welder Flux Wire Welding Machine Auto Feeding Torch | eBay

Ironically they look almost exactly the same, minus color and decals, come with the same parts, and have the same dial layout. I work retail and I know that most company's buy products from a whole seller and label it with there brand name. there are even items in our store that items are from the same manufacture but one is brand name and the other is a "generic" and the brand name is more expensive due to branding (even tho they are virtually the same product minus cosmetic differences.) I am just curious what some of you guys think or if anyone has had that welder. Also additional welders in that price range would be nice to.

I was also looking a the cambell hausfeld mig which runs around the same price were I work, but does not come with the dual gauge. it also has a 5 year warranty and again has good reviews

I understand people swear by Lincoln, miller, Hobart and some other big brand names. But again its for small jobs and nothing fancy. Just tired of paying the exhaust shop up the street every time I need something welded

Well I own 3 welders, 2 from Miller one from Lincoln(120v mig) which was my first and I bought it new but as a demo model. Thst was 11yrs ago and it's still going strong. Welder tech. Has greatly improved over the yrs but I still feel you get what you pay for. That being said look at the warranty. What happens if something breaks what is there customer support, return, repair service. Nothing is cheap that you don't pay for it someplace else. If you don't plan on doing more fabrication than just your exhaust then the econo box my suit your needs.

have a refurbished Licoln 125 weld pak hd mig that's about 6 years old and is going strong.

I bought a longevity 200sx tig welder last year and I have had zero complaints. It's welded everything I have needed it to.

I understand that I just really cant afford a higher end welder. And yes I am not doing crazy fab work or nothing its just for small use. I was browsing ebay because I was actually seeing if I could find a good deal on a used Lincoln/ miller, I missed on by a couple bids a few days ago and I also missed a local sale of a Lincoln mig with a tank for 200$. I know east wood sell there welder through hot rod magazine, I stumbled across that no name one when browsing ebay. By original choice was the CH one that carry's a 5 year warranty and we sell it at work, which we also have a lenient return policy, so they would easy exchange it, or give me a new on if it did break. It does not come with the dual gauge regulator, just a non gauged one.

Another thing you might want to consider is gas, I've used flux wire in the past and never been proud of the welds. A gas welder does a much better job. Stay away from the extremely cheep welders, if your on a tight budget look into buying a name brand used welder.

Don't waste your money on a flux core. Gas for sure.

I have a Eastwood TIG. Been working pretty well and reasonable. Probably not what you are looking for, but maybe check out their MIGs

I have to agree I picked up my welder at a garage sale still in the original box with all the original stuff but no gas set up. Hardly even used. It had the original spool of flux wire on it with 90% or more left. I couldn't pass it up for $100 (stole it!) but if I was going to go buy one myself with real money I would pick something with gas.
I've been looking for a gas conversion for mine but then on the other hand think of getting a new one that you can actually adjust. Mine has A,B,C,D for power settings and wire feed is variable.

I have the Auto Arc 135 . It is made by hobart and made in the us with a 3 year warranty. It is pretty much identical to a millermatic 135 but it doesn't have the detachable lead and has fewer heat range settings. It is set up for gas. It has the gas valve in the case like a higher end machine instead of the torch like the cheaper ones. It welds very good also for a cheap welder.

http://www.lincolnelectric.com/en-us/equipment/mig-Welders/Pages/mig-welders.aspx The (POWER MIG® 140C MIG Welder -K2471-2) I grabbed this one a few years back. I have about 8 years of welding experience (non professional but I was in a trade school for welding). This is one of the best 120v mig welders for the money IMO. Can also weld stainless and aluminum with the right spool gun and C02 instead of argon if I remember correctly. :hellyeah:

My old Lincoln MIG PAK 10 has never let me down. IIRC I paid around $400 for it with an employee discount at the place I was working.

I've welded everything from sheet metal (body work on my talon) to 1/4" thick plate (cut out rockers/rock rails on my old Jeep).

Lots of people like Lincoln and Miller. The thing is, just like you, I can't afford them. And the used ones usually cost as much as a brand new one from everlast. But you can't go wrong with everlast. I have a multi-process machine from them tig/smaw/plasma. Has all the bells and whistles too, haven't had a single problem. I definitely need to practice more though LOL

Look on craigslist for used. Stay with Miller, Lincoln and Hobart. I picked up a really old Miller, like from 1990 for free. Im using Harbor Freight flux core .030. Welded up my strut bar last week with barely any hiccups. All I had to do was clean the ground clamp really well and get new wire and tips, both from HF. Just don't use their welders.
