Whenever I pull my vacuum hose on the aero afpr my car dies. Im SD and the only thing I can think is that the diaphragm has a hole in it. Maybe the fuel pump is not seated all they way?

What say you, people of the great tuners. :)

It dies because it's dumping a bunch of extra fuel in.........

You're creating a massive vacuum leak when you pull the hose off of the FPR which creates an instant lean condition that kills the motor.

If you've got ECMLink and you're trying to set fuel pressure then don't start the car, just turn the key to the "ON" position and use ECMLink's misc tab to turn on the fuel pump. Doing it this way doesn't require you to pull the vacuum line off to set pressure. If you don't have ECMLink then pull the line off the FPR before you even start the car and plug it so there's no additional air getting into the IM.

Gofer,
I plug the hose as soon as it comes off. It should stay running.

An afpr should hold pressure when turned off. I opened up the afpr and there was no hole in the diaphragm. I did however see an uneven seating surface. Ive found threads on EvoM about aeromotive afpr's having this issue on a certain product line; the compact series. Made an even seating surface and BAM; what do you know, it holds pressure.

$200~ part = useless from the factory. I no longer support aeromotive.

you should contact aeromotive and seek out them rectifying the situation. there is always a margin of error with new parts, even from reputable vendors/dealers, like aeromotive.

i personally have used aeromotive AFPR's on other builds with great results. i went with a fuel lab on my talon, cuz the price was way right.

I never bought it, it came on the car. However, the part was less than a year old.
Would have it been nice to get a new one..? Yes
Do I mind spending 2 mins to correct a machines fault..? Nope

I've used sx's stuff in the past a whole lot. Its all been fine with better prices than if it had made its way into an aeromotive box. I've used their fpr, weld in sump, a1000 pump and filter setup, and various fittings and adapters. Its all been great. IMO bad quality is never more apparent than it is in an fittings and adaptors. The cheap ones are basically useless and just feel so shit-y in your hands. The sx stuff is top notch but priced a lot better than dwerks, aeromotive, Bosch, etc.

totally understand you on both counts. just saying, losing support for a company due to a 1000th percentage of a problem is a bit extreme in my book. but we all have different opinions on parts and how we feel about them.

i am glad you figured it out tho, good deduction!

Yeah, dealing with suppliers at an OEM level has lead me to this conclusion. The only words that comes to mind would be... If you only knew.... LOL.
