so right now, I'm in the midst of an awd swap. the original/donor car is a 99 gsx. the new body is a 97 gst. when I was removing gas tanks from both, I was able to remove the hose from the gst in tact but .I had to cut the gsx. any rate, the gst hose is too narrow and not long enough and the original is obviously cut.

I tried calling the Mitsubishi dealer local to me and he hasn't gotten in contact. is there any possible hose or something that I could use? I wanted to use radiator hose but people tell the gas will eat thru it

Local parts stores (NAPA over Pep Boys and Advance) should offer flexible fuel filler hose that is reinforced with wire in a variety of diameters either sold in lengths or in bulk (to be cut).

Get a close idea of the diameter and length, then visit your local parts store- they should be able to help you out. :thumb:

I've been calling different places and have been generally getting a no. I've asked for different recommendations and they keep saying that the gas will eat through it.

Napa was the first place I called, but I'll gladly try again. Thanks again Justin :thumb:

I found larger fuel line sizes at West Marine. I imagine any place that has parts for boats would carry it. Not really cheap though....boat guys get shafted pretty good it seems.

Here was my solution (for anyone who ever gets stuck in this predicament)

If you have a Base/RS/GS/GST Eclipse/Talon of the 2g variety, you need a hose with a 1 3/4 inch inside diameter. This can be found at West Marine easily or any boat store that would carry such a part.

GSX owners need 2 inch diameter hose. This MAY be able to be found at West Marine or a local boat store but in case it isn't, here's where I ordered mine:

I was in the same boat trying to figure out what to use. I finally just got went with an online mitsubishi dealer and just looked up the right hose. It was fairly reasonably priced. You may want to check with JNZ tuning. Its always nice to support the companies that give dsm's some love.

whats the part number im not sure if its the filler hose or filler tube i need

The hose is the flexible rubber line. Large is the actual fill and small is the vent. The tube is the metal part coming from the gas cap.

Will this work for the 1g as well? I need part #32 but I don't know exactly what to call it, nor found a part number. I put on mudflaps and a screw wandered a little too close and clipped it. rather be safe than sorry.

Part 32 is long out of producton. Go to an auto store and find an appropriate sized 90 degree fuel hose. Do NOT use radiator hose. Use fuel hose. It exists. I did it ten years ago.
