So a friend and I were discussing old cars earlier and talking about engine swaps and the like, and then I mentioned one day getting a 1GA Talon and swapping it to the OBD II system. This was a purely impulsive thought that I had never thought about before and would like to know if anyone has done it. The way I see it, is all that would need swaped is a 2G ECU, the 2G harness, and the adapter harness for a 6 bolt swap on a 2G. Could it really be that simple?

:aha: So it is known, I'm not stating that I plan this, so that is not up for debate. Just curious about it being do-able.

Of coarse it can be done, but why? As far as adapter harness what are you referring to? The cas harness?

Yeah the CAS harness. The why, being for the ability to plug in a wider array of scanners, but if it has Link, that would be pointless. Was just a thought since I know nothing about OBD I.

Not years, over a Decade... Think pre Dsmlink for 1g's :thumb:

The info it out there just look a bit more OP.

I don't see why you'd need anything more than to make an ECU plugin adapter harness, and wire up the ODBII plug. Leave your harness alone.

I would recommend just using an Evo 8 ECU instead, as the mods for that ECU are more abundant. Wiring is the same as a 2G other than swapping 4 wires around. I've used the stock 98-99 computer and the Evo 8 computer in my 2G and I prefer the Evo.

Guess I was searching for the wrong phrase. Thanks.

Yes it would be 2g or Evo ecu in a 1g , OBD II swap is what it would be called in a Honda forum. I think there's less need to do it these days since there is ECMlink for 1gs and 2gs, but when it first came it out it was only for the 2g so people would swap to a 2g ecu so they could have dsmlink in a 1g

You'll have to build one of these, the rest is simple.

Just make sure if you actually do this the there ARE Differences between 95-96 , 97-99 and the Evo as far as the wring.

My best recommendation is to pull the Actual Schematics of both Car/ECU's you are working to do actual comparisons to get a the best Idea of the Real Differences first hand rather than just looking at some of the Diagrams of Pin x to pin x that are floating around :)
