Have a quick question about ECMLink and their chip, is there a special feature that makes them different than a normal flashable EPROM chip? Physical differences, not just software.

In other words would the ECMLink software work on a normal flashed chip.

Yes, most definitely.

And to clarify, only the laptop application is freely downloadable off our website. The software inside the ECU is certainly not.

I'm new to DSMs, so I'm just trying to figure it all out. I'm not a thief, I was actually interested in what makes the chip so different. I'm sorry if that's offensive.

It sounds exactly like you are expecting someone to tell you how to run link without without buying link. What does it matter how the chip works. If you want dsmlink, buy dsmlink.
