This is the guy I bought mine from. They're still $50 shipped. 95 96 97 98 99 Mitsubishi Eclipse Gas Hood Shock Damper: eBay Motors (item 290467458714 end time Sep-22-10 20:13:56 PDT)That the kind of price range I was looking for. All the ones on ebay are now around $100 and up
I actually had found a pair for a bit less than that like an hour after my post. It was $45 shipped from: NEW 95-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse HOOD SHOCK DAMPER LIFT KIT: eBay Motors (item 140436401184 end time Oct-03-10 13:51:53 PDT)
I hope they hold up as well as yours. Thank you for the help though.
That's a good price with good feedback. I wonder if there's a kit that would fold it back a little further so it'll be a little easier to work on the engine!
Well I just finished putting in the hood shocks, it was really easy to do.
I can't really complain about them, I do have some "fitment" issues when the hood is closed.
Meaning that the passenger side isn't level, it is raised up about an 1/8 of an inch or less.
My hood was a little off all ready and I've been meaning to try and adjust it.
Plus my car was wrecked, on that side before I got it.
I didn't put up a picture of it with the hood closed.
Because I'm going to loosing all the mounts on the hood
and try and straighten everything out first. You must be logged in to view this image or video. You must be logged in to view this image or video. You must be logged in to view this image or video.

I like this style better. They seem like they are less in the way. Only down side is you have to drill the holes.
95-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse Hood Lift PLUS Gas Strut Shock:eBay Motors (item 280290370806 end time Aug-27-09 09:35:28 PDT)
Any 2G guys have their hoods modded to go straight up and down with the struts? I ask cause I've got that done with mine (gives more room to work under the hood).
No but I'd like to see
Craig, I measured mine on the bathroom scale today. It was around 65-70 lbs.
And for the sake of measuring, I also measured the extended center-to-center length at 11.75".
Yes, indeed that is why, these hood dampers are designed to lift a heavy stock metal hood.... so what i was wondering if perhaps there are some that have a lower pressure rating for lighter hoods out there?I believe they say that because the pressure from the gas dampers can warp/distort the hood over time.
And not sure what clip you are referring to as i don't have a screen door at my house ..They will trash a carbon fiber or fiberglass hood, too much constant pressure on the hood and too much pressure required to close the hood. I suppose you could get a set or even one and drill the end out and let all of the oil out of it and then have a slide clip on the rod like you have to hold your screen door open and just do that.
