Reviving this thread to see how everybody's struts are holding up after a year. Looking into buying or putting together a pair

I've only had mine for 3 months, but I love them. I only wish I would have bought them years ago. Mine are the eBay ones that NeMiZiS bought, but black bodied instead of the CF. IIRC, I paid $50 shipped. They fit great and I haven't had a single issue with them yet.

That the kind of price range I was looking for. All the ones on ebay are now around $100 and up

While i can't attest to a fit and finsh on a DSM, I have a set of Redline struts on my tacoma for the last 4 years they still work perfect (knock on wood) LOL

That's a good price with good feedback. I wonder if there's a kit that would fold it back a little further so it'll be a little easier to work on the engine!

And apparently they ship from the U.S. so no waiting like three weeks to get here :D

Still haven't got mine, granted it's only been 2 days

Got these in the mail yesterday :D

Well I just finished putting in the hood shocks, it was really easy to do.
I can't really complain about them, I do have some "fitment" issues when the hood is closed.
Meaning that the passenger side isn't level, it is raised up about an 1/8 of an inch or less.
My hood was a little off all ready and I've been meaning to try and adjust it.
Plus my car was wrecked, on that side before I got it.:ohdamn:
I didn't put up a picture of it with the hood closed.
Because I'm going to loosing all the mounts on the hood
and try and straighten everything out first.:banghead:

Any 2G guys have their hoods modded to go straight up and down with the struts? I ask cause I've got that done with mine (gives more room to work under the hood).

Hello, It really has been a while since anybody updated this thread, but i have a question that hopefully some of you may have the answer to...

I had an eBay set of these hood dampers a while ago when I had my stock hood.. i now have a carbon fiber hood and all the sets i keep finding say to not use with after market fiber glass or carbon fiber hoods....

Anybody know of a set of hood dampers that I can use with a carbon fiber hood? Pleaseeee.

They will trash a carbon fiber or fiberglass hood, too much constant pressure on the hood and too much pressure required to close the hood. I suppose you could get a set or even one and drill the end out and let all of the oil out of it and then have a slide clip on the rod like you have to hold your screen door open and just do that.

I believe they say that because the pressure from the gas dampers can warp/distort the hood over time.
Yes, indeed that is why, these hood dampers are designed to lift a heavy stock metal hood.... so what i was wondering if perhaps there are some that have a lower pressure rating for lighter hoods out there?

And not sure what clip you are referring to as i don't have a screen door at my house LOL..
