Oh I know it can be done, I was just going off of the whole nailing 2x4s together and flying across the Atlantic comment

Edit: Come to think about it, I have a hole saw and some treated 4x4s out in the shed. I think I'll go and make some motor mount inserts

Um, I think someone else made a good point. Do you think this will pass tech at the shootout? Or wherever you plan on driving this, as all cars must go through tech before racing. I recommended a front clip a while ago but this has gone so terribly bad since then ...

Do you think I began this build thinking "hey I wonder how unsafe I can make a car That is going to be driven on the street?" Or do you think I want the car to fall apart going 150 when I'm driveing it.... I built this car to the best of my ability with the knowledge I currently have I dont have an extensive background in metal fabrication like some of you claim to have.

So dont be stubborn, cut the cage out and start over with an NHRA rule book next to you.

If that was the best of your ability than you obviously can't read. You could of bought a simple nhra rule book, got a good welder, a tube bender and made something that was legit. This is not out of your ability to buy a rule book and read it. You chose not to, and chose to do it your own way just because people told you that you cant. It is obvious by what you have going on there that you didn't do any research or actually talk with an actual chassis fabricator for advise. It isn't alright just because you tried your best. This isn't little league baseball where they give a trophy for just playing. This is real life, when you mess up and kill yourself or worse others. What would it take to convince you that what you are doing is completely wrong and very dangerous?

So what your saying is you dont care about anyone, so no one else does, and caring makes people trolls? if your grandma is driving and this guy crashes into her with this deathtrap and kills her then its no problem? He's talking about doing 150 in this thing on public roads.... Or how about your family member rides in it and then dies when the roll cage malfunctions?

Its not on the road yet they don't have to write to go into my locked garage and impound my car we live in the us not russia

I could care less about him or other people being hurt. Gabbing a chassis and getting it on the road is obviously far beyond anything he is capable of.

I cannot believe the time and money spent on this yard art. This isn't the weekend project of some Hoosier with a saw and half a tank of gas for his welder. This guy has put lots of weekends into this thing.

The problem with "the best of your abilities" is this;

You had infinite knowledge at your finger tips, to ask questions and do things right based on people with previous experience, welding knowledge, and full cage building knowledge.

You in turn did this... argued with everyone, didn't ask many technical questions, asked zero questions about how to build a real cage and then you took a sawzall to this hunk of metal and cut out the main structure. On top of that, you did just about every step the wrong way to the best of your ability.

Cudos, you can weld metal together. You've proven that. Best of your abilities? Everyone can improve, but on this pile... its not worth the time. This thing will most likely be looked at as an off road vehicle to the dmv in NY. And that means its going to be looked at in a whole different set of parameters from your typical safety and emissions tests.


Edit: and here's my logic... if you can NEVER track this thing and use it as a race car that you want it to be, what's the point? You want to be the parking lot queen at the track, with your 15's bumping and your lambo doors open? It seems like the desire to finish this is only fueled by the thought of proving us all wrong. Which is the wrong reason to do something this foolish.

Just add more bars everywhere and enter a demolition derby with that ghetto looking contraption

You did it to yourself bud. We tried to help you and give you advice, but you wanted to act like an idiot and think were all just haters and do your own thing. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE, i dont get whats so hard to understand. The people that tried to give you advice have A LOT more experience than you, you should have listened and just scrapped the car and started over. If you had acted like an adult and take GOOD advice, we would be willing to help you, but we dont give a shit because its just a waste of breath. If you have never done something before, you need to do research before you just jump in and start cutting shit off a car. We all started somewhere and listened to people with more experience, and that what you should have done. Your the one to blame, not the dsm community.
