Apparently the NHRA, and SFI rule books are also hating on him.

Along with all the dragsters, funny cars, door slammers, and go karts of the world......

Yep. He obviously knows whats best. I dont understand how some ppl can be this stupid. When people with A LOT more experience are trying to tell u your doing something wrong, you just brush it off and try to prove us wrong. Were tellin him these things for a reason. But you know what, if hes this much of a dumbass, let him finish it, and when he takes it out and kills himself or somebody else it's 100% on him. I cant wait for the "You guys were right" post. Its gonna make my day.

I don't see how you can sit here and tell me it's not going to work when it clearly is working. I guess when my car falls apart you can say I told you so.

You could've built it out of wood if this was about it "working." But for some reason I suspect you'd laugh at someone attempting that, with an ironic lack of self-awareness.

Anyways, it's hard to tell dead people "I told you so." Or their innocent victims, for that matter.

The "my ignorance is as good as your knowledge" attitude is becoming something of a trend around here. I blame whoever invented the term "haters." If that bastard is still alive we need to find him and waterboard that delusional sh!t out of him till there is a public retraction issued. It has destroyed the ability to learn for a healthy chunk of at least one generation already.

God forbid you learn something and evolved. That would be admitting defeat!

Those bars connect the front and rear of the cage together and form the trans tunnel. Trans mount is 1/8 steel and welded plates to the unibody frame rails.

^^ That's a trans tunnel, notice how it goes from the main hoop seat croosmember to the floor, NOT to the dash bar.. That's how you correctly mount the trans tunnel bars, the way you did it it will interfere with your arm and with shifting.. BTW, the guy in the pic is Valdo a very well known chassis fabricator in Puerto Rico and with numerous 6 & 7 sec cars built under his belt..

I don't think you're stupid, I just don't think you're very smart. Especially putting all this time, money, work, and effort into something that could have been executed in a safer manner. Its pretty basic as far as chassis/structural engineering, the rule books give you great ideas on how to do it right with a few inches of leeway. You also wouldn't need to add so many bars in the most random areas to support a poorly designed roll bar, cage, I dont know WTF you're gluing together chassis.

I believe I asked this question before, but I'll ask it again. Are you using a flux core wire fed welder? Post some close up pics of the welds.

That's funny because there are still cars being made today that are out of wood. I just seen it on "How it's made". Dark Roasted Blend: How Morgan Cars Are Made: by Hand, Out of Wood Morgan for the win!

I'm not Gona sit here and let you call me stupid. Who are you to say I'm doing it wrong tell me how many Sbc motor swaps have you done?

Because you ARE stupid and you ARE doing it wrong. Having done a sbc swap has nothing to do with your fabrication work. The way you did the cage was WRONG, the way you welded it was WRONG, The way you didnt brace the car before you cut out the firewall was WRONG. The whole thing is wrong, but your to much of a dumb shit to just admit that you dont know what your doing and take our advice. The car isnt safe at all.

Interference with seating/shifting/steering are all best case scenarios too. What happens in an oblique impact after vibration has been working away at those splatter gun seams and it spears the guy like a harpoon..

Just as a general point to make, I am not familiar with NHRA and SFI standards, but I am familiar with OSHA, ASTM, and ANSI. Industry standards are in place to ensure one and only one thing, safety. This is a result of many years of experience, compiled into a single document for various industries (albeit very long and tedious to read, much less understand). I am assuming NHRA and SFI standards have been developed similar to industry standards.

So as I mentioned, safety is the most important thing. Without these standards, the US would not have labor laws, noise ordinances, pressure relief valve criteria, and other numerous things. Plants would literally be polluting, and potentially exploding from negligence of plant managers trying to do things the quick and cheap way (which they still do when guidelines arent followed).

So why go against years of experience, and more importantly be intentionally unsafe about it? This isnt a matter of something falling apart or blowing up. This is along the lines of a car falling apart at high speeds, potentially sending large chunks of metal, wheels, etc into traffic. Lets say you get this running, and you get in an accident going 80 mph. What if, you were the cause of a multiple car pileup, where families died. Do you think you could live with yourself? Would you be able to carry on day to day with a normal life, knowing you took lives because you didnt follow a simple standard?

Please be responsible, cut your losses, and dont risk other people's lives because of your pride.

In what way is this 'working'? I would like to know what that means exactly.

Not that it matters but I can build a house....

I can work on cars, but I can't build a house. Well I supposed I COULD attempt one, and then try to live in it until it falls on my head.

This should be your next improvement to this car:

Gabytech, I was also going to point out that trans tunnel, but he will figure out its wrong when he goes to make a sharp right and ends up in the hospital with a broken elbow.

OP- If anything at all, the trans tunnel is where you can get away with the smaller box tubing to build a nice tight frame around the trans, so that it gives the trans a small amount of clearance and keeps the floor low. Not cutting your space to drive in half by going steering wheel height with it.... amateur move.

Keep it up, if you throw enough steel at it it will hold together fine, but it will be an anchor at best. And it sure as hell wont pass for any track time.

Dude at first I thought you could get this done cheap and safe. But you cut so much of the car away and no offense but it is not safe at this point there is nothing structurally to build off of. You need to stop be for you hurt your self or others.

If I dident stop when I had no engine and trans I'm not stopping now.... See everyone at the shootout. :thumb:

OP - Do you have any family? Kids? Wife? What if they were driving along, and one of the kids was impaled by a piece of steel because someone like you had the idea of building a car in one of the most unsafe ways Ive seen?

Please read the previous post I made, and take a look in the mirror. Find your conscience and quit building the death trap...

Lol, from the parking lot across the street?

You gonna photo'chop' your car on the track? Pun intended....

This is so ridiculous, its pretty gutsy of you to just act like you don't care about anyone's safety on an entire car community, and shrug it off like, "meh, see you dumb asses at the shootout." I'm sure enough people on here know enough people to ban this car from being within sight of the shootout, maybe not even in the same town.

I want to make sure I understand correctly.. in the Rules/FAQ it states:

Other things we would rather not see posted here include, but is not limited to: spam, self promotion, commercial posts (see our Vendor Policy), politics, religion, nudity (hot chick threads), racism, drugs, street racing, illegal activities, etc.

Which this demonstrably IS illegal in NY, if not also Federally. OP admits to intending to "drive" this death trap.

So why is it still here?

I vote to have this stain bleached, both to avoid encouraging others to endanger the public and because it looks like some sort of implicit endorsement of this childish behavior.
