Hi I have a 91 mighty max 5 speed with the 4g64 block. What would Be easier to, I want to do the doch and turbo would it be easier to buy a whole motor or use my existing block and transmission just do a head swap, piston replace and turbo or just buy a motor and pay money to make another transmission fit for the red setup?

If anyone has done the rebuild or swap could you tell me a parts list to do the easiest way possible?

I believe that you have a wide block 4g (dsm's have a "narrow" block, referring to the bellhousing bolt pattern) so I would stick with that block. I would talk to the guys over on mightyram50.net as they have a plethora of info on just your situation

As ^^^^ stated, keep the block you have and do a head swap. However, if you're intending on upgrading the transmission too, then by all means do the short block as well. If it were me doing this, I'd use a 4g64 block, 4g63 head, and a T-56 transmission. There's a guy in Ohio who makes a bell housing for that trans to mount to a 4G6x engine. I may do this one day as well, been looking in to it for some time. Here's a great link for some great info: :: Project Zero G ::

Off topic but mentioned above is a 4g trans adapter plate from a guy in ohio? I live in akron ohio and am helping a friend to a 4g swap in his late mgb gt, but having issues with trans options. Would love to use a t56! Any info on that guy??

Boost the 4g64, but apparently the mighty max trans can hold around 300hp depending on condition of course...

Nevermind just followed the link through a couple other links... found it

If you wanna do the 4g63 swap I've read that the km 132 transsmition from some mighty max trucks fit on 4g63's.

Wow that was kinda both ways but yeah I've heard about the transmission and that's why I was debating to keep my 4g64 wide block and just use the 63 heads but It seems like that's the best way to go. I'm just wondering I know the tranny can hold that power and I'm ok with chillin at 300hp just wondering if the block internals can handle it. If it can then I have a 63 head turbo en ecu so if it's good then I'll throw it all onto my 4g64 block. If that sounds good let me know so I can start

<---- has a 4g63 to Chevy trans adapter plate for sale with crank adapter for sbc flexplate and new starter pinion

Anyone know if an sti motor fits in the mighty max?
