I have two turbo options this year for my local 1/8th mile track. i have a built 8:8:1 forged 6 bolt with BC 280's,and FIC 850 injectors and i just recently put this engine into a 1991 eclipse GSX automatic car with fresh rebuild on trans and stock converter. What my question is should i run my 7 blade hx35 in the 12cm housing or my big 16g that needs to be rebuild? The reason i ask this question is...will the stock converter let me stall enough to spool this hx35 any? thank you all for the help.

i was gonna run the big 16g with this auto awd car but i already have a 98 gst with a small 16g and its fun on the street but i'd much rather have some more hp numbers with the hx35. I've been talking to a few ppl on facebook that run auto awd cars with bigger turbos and they say the stock converter will stall enough to spool the hx35 but it takes about 10 to 12 seconds brake boosting it....anyone know if this is true or not?

Im on a twin scroll hx40 60mm on a 2.0l motor with stock intake manifold. With the stock converter I can reach 4000rpm and launch at whatever boost I want in 4-7 seconds. Ive been using this converter for about 2 seasons now and zero issues. Last time at the track 2 years ago at 30psi it went 6.52 at 108mph in the 1/8. Since then I have been on 45psi but have yet to go back to the track.

Black97spyder what does the car 60" with the high stall convertor?

On street tires I was spinning all four off the line and cutting consistent 1.77-1.88 second 60' times

If you watch the videos above you will see that it took me about 10-15 seconds to get full stall out of my converter with a 20g on bc 280's with fp manifold and stock intake

well i'm not gonna be street using my 91 gsx it will be track mainly and ever so often street driven i'm leaning to the hx35 for more topend i forgot to mention i have 280 cams so the 16g won't even benefit from them. i was just curious if the stock converter will be able to spool the hx35 at the line...at the track
