So I have a 92 gsx and previous owner had some ricer type tail lights on them, you know the ones that almost every honda has.

My junkyards have scrapped all the 1g's that were here but 1 eclipse 94 and a sister junkyard 30ish miles away has 1 90 talon.

I already grabbed the eclipse tail lights (car is black mine is red) Don't know if the talon even has the tail lights on it haven't checked yet

So basically which tail lights do you like better? obviously I would keep the center piece that says mitsubishi versus the talon center piece.

Just trying to get some opinions :hmm:

If it were me i would get the bumper and the tail lights from the 90. The 92 stuff has that area under the tail lights that always gets wavy and looks like crap.

I have a 93 gsx and swapped to 90' Talon tail lights. Not a perfect fit but much better than the stupid blue stripe through the lights. I made a thread in here with pics. You can find it on my profile.

thats exactly what I needed, I also don't like the stripe through the middle, but at least they are from a black car if the talon lights are gone

so the talon lights didn't end up working out but I ended up using the oem eclipse lights off of a black eclipse. I think it looks a little better being black in the middle vs red

I agree it looks good with the black stripe, it breaks it up a little.

thanks, and just to show how much of an improvement they are over the lights that came on the car

Wonder if it's possible to pull lenses off those chromed lights and install them on factory reflectors (after tinting the clear lenses red, of course). Always though that not having any lines in the lights would look the best.

The thought crossed my mind too because I like the form/style of the clear ones just not the color, why do all the after market tail lenses have to be so corny and way "overdone" or "flashy".

In my opinion I really like that line that goes through the middle. But that's me though.

i do too, i am very happy with the look. But I think if the lenses were a little darker (just a little) it might look even better with not as much red on red. But since I am happy with the way it is now, there is no point in risking ruining what I got with experimenting :D

I thought about doing the 1gb talon swap on the back when I first got the car but looking at it now, it looks pretty slick.

thanks for the feedback guys

Some cars looks good with Altezzas whereas others looks so tacky. DSM is one of those that doesn't look good at all - looks too ricey and fake.

I was thinking on turning my Laser into an Eclipse with the changeout of both the front center piece to clear and the larger taillight lenses, but decided not to-want to keep the thing original.

Good luck - DSM

Definite good switch. :thumb: The 90 tails would have been an issue. The 92-94 eclipse tails had a slight curve at the corner in each rear fender, the 90-91 did not, they were pointed. You would have had to grind off part of each lense. The 94's you got were the better choice.

Now, do everyone a favor, MELT THE ALTEEZA'S INTO A PUDDLE OF GOO!!!!! Say no to enabling a future ricer... :hellyeah:

good to know, I'm glad I didn't get the 90 tails now :rocks:

and I think your right about the alteeza's I would probably have to pay someone to take themROFL

Something I did on my first 2nd gen that I inherited with led altezzas... Instead of blacking them out, they make the same thing only its red like OEM but a bit darker, actually looked pretty good, but its just like the black out you have to prep them correctly to get that right look.
Couldn't even tell there was altezzas under there even at night, it just looked like a led light pattern.

I don't know they're pretty sweet but money talks how does $1000 sound? :DROFL

:ohdamn: Kids these days. Got a cheapie ebay part for sale and thing they have a one-of-a-kind custom built jewel.

Although if you'r saying you'll pay me $1000 to take them, then let's do this! :D

codym, just looked up those tail lights, and while they are nice on a 2G, would think that style might not look as good on a 1G since 1G is boxier than a 2G. Circular tail lights on a 1G make it look like a Fox-body meowstang for some reason, at least for me. Or maybe it's the idea of not having a 'lightbar' across the back but separate tail lights that gives the car that effect.

Curious as to why the wavy bumper happens?
Is this only common on the 1gb's?

I'm looking at doing an LED kit for the center piece for a 1G.

That center section looks like it needs to be lit instead of just being there.

Course, I've got the Chrysler Pentagram in the middle of my center lens due to being a Laser, but could highlight that pentagram somehow.

Also a thought for a conversion to some: the 1Gb Lasers kept the 1Ga rear end look even though the front end did the makeover from popups to solid lights. Thus grab the bumper cover from one of these vehicles and change out the taillights from a 1Ga to match.
...just a thought for now.. - DSM
