Would removing the head shield around the exhaust manifold damage anything?

I'm trying to save weight and I'm just trying to take off simple bolt on stuff like plastic behind the intercooler that kind of stuff. I know the top of the heat shield around the headers is relatively simple to get off. I was wondering if that would cause overheating to any other parts, raise my intake temperature, reduce performance, etc. Also if there is anything else i can remove what is it and this is my daily driver. PS I need to keep my spare tire and jack because there are bad roads where I live and i dont wanna be screwed on the side of the road. Thanks in advance.:hellyeah:

Ok so which would be better, wrapping my manifold and leaving the heatshield or getting the little blanket? Also are there any aftermarket manifolds that would work with the heatshield? Last question that's a little off topic, what is a good way to clean the heatshield to make it look a little better?

why would you need an aftermarket manifold? just have yours ported or buy the FP one like recommended...

wrapping the manifold and having a heat shield? heat shield alone should be fine
blanket is for if you get the fp manifold...

I took my heatshield off and added tubular headers a while back... never blistered paint but ended up wrecking the foil hood liner.. I have since swapped to a fp cast mani and the heat seems like less of an issue, but I dont go full on racing ever. I would like to get a custom heatsheild in the future. It definately get hot down under the hood tho, sometimes in the summer I wonder if I'm about to melt other parts like wires, or rubber hoses, or plastic pieces.

I have no issues with this, no heat shields around it, and a carbon hood with no heat shield, i dont habe a single issue, and i dont run a driver side fan and still kept 180-190* temps with an oem rad and oem passenger fan.

Obviously i don't have the oem rad anymore.

For what it's worth.

I did however just recently ad a turbo blanket and wrapped lower ic pipe, dump tube and down pipe (side exit)

Mines been off since before I owned my car, and I've had it for between 25-30k now. My paint didn't magically start to blister off the hood, alternator works fine, I can still open the hood on a summer day after a drive, no fan or wiring issues...

I even switched from the stock ported cast mani to a tubular style manifold, no difference between the two in all aspects.
