getting ready to do an auto swap in my talon. What do I need to do to the transmission to make it take 600 whp for a long period of time. I am running drag radials, and I have a custom converter, looking to stall out around 4k rpm, I am running a gt3582r turbo.

Subscribing to this! I'm doing the similar setup but with a 500-550whp setup. Really considering using a buschur trans and converter.

Cool, I am planning on building my transmission. Just need to know what I need to stick in it and where to buy the parts from. The place I got the converter from will restall it up to 3 times for free, so I should be good there. Good luck with yours. What turbo you gonna run?

Where'd you get that custom converter from, with the re-stalls? Kiggly has a really nice write-up on his site about what parts are needed for what power/e.t. levels.

Import Performance Transmissions (IPT) has some forums. They are pretty much the authority on the w4a33 transmission (AWD auto). Check out their site and forums for some answers. I run their rebuild kit with 5 disk front clutch, HP end clutch, Translab shift kit, and an IPT restalled converter. Good luck.

I just sent my auto trans to metro transmission in Washington. Mark is a very smart dsm auto trans guy. Im using borg warner high energy clutch packs (one is the IPT 5 disc front clutch that I already had), a custom shift kit done by them, my center differential is now welded... as for extra stuff to keep things from breaking and make the trans last, you want a good converter (sounds like your set here, i use a sinister speed weighted 8" core 2 and can easily stall 5krpm on it and then still drive around town like a stock converter :thumb: ), use a kiggly flexplate, fourced four shift box (im using the shift box plus) and some good trans fluid.

The shift box will make your shifts instant and not let the clutches slip under alot of horsepower and let you revv the car past 8k without the trans slipping or shifting slow. But you should be able to get the stock trans to hold at least 550hp with a translab shift kit, aftermarket converter and a shift box

For what it's worth if your transmission is in good working condition you should be able to make 600hp without doing anything at all aside from a shiftbox / blue-wire mod.

An aftermarket converter will obviously make a difference in your E/Ts, but it is not needed to handle power. There are cars running in the 9's with a stock converter.

Whats the better price for a complete kit: Metro or IPT? I think for everything and a restall IPT would be over 3,000. Shipping would be substantial as well. Im EVENTUALLY going to get off my ass and start my auto build and do the awd swap. Damn teen daughter flipped out, ran away and now im dumping thousands in a f ing lawyer to win custody back. Kids....... Be careful guys, when they hit puberty watch out. Shit gets crazy. Sorry for jumping off topic, its kind of on mind all the time LOL.

So anyway, metro or IPT? Full build, welded center, everything
