Some more goodies ordered and on the way!

I'm currently out of town visiting my son who lives in Greenville, NC.

Carbonfiber hatch (I sold the frankscustom fiberglass hatch since stock size glass or lexan would not fit) from carbonetics. Thanks Sergio!

This hatch will work with the FAL window kit.

Also went ahead and ordered the Magnus adjustable fuel pressure regulator to replace the Aeromotive A1000 I have just to match the color scheme better.

Also, more OEM goodies (bolts, and misc stuff) from Paul at JNZ.

I'll post pics of the parts when I get home.

Also, my buddy who is doing my wiring harnesses will be coming back over to finish the wiring. The chassis harness is complete, just need to do the engine harness and wire in the gauges. He also modified the center console (radio/climate) piece to help it look a little better rather than have a bunch of empty holes. He's also making my switch panel where controls for the water pump, radiator fan, nitrous arm, and purge will be.

Some parts from JNZ....

For those curious its a bit smaller that a Aeromotive A1000. I'll take a comparision shot of the two when I get the chance.

UPDATE ON DRIVESHAFT SHOP DRIVE SHAFT ISSUE.......

I spoke with Tad at driveshaft shop about my driveshaft being too short, sticking out of the transfer case 1&3/4" I took some measurements like he asked for and we discussed this issue. I will be sending the driveshaft back to them to get made longer by 1&1/2" and they'll be paying for the shipping.

So after hearing others having issues with them I'll say I guess I lucked out and they were very good to me about backing up their product and correcting the issue I have with it.

So my advice to anyone else with the same issue as I have is to call and ask to speak with Tad at Driveshaft Shop.

Now if I could only get this kind of customer support from Extremepsi and Avid Racing concerning the motor mounts I got that were incorrect.

Took some parts to get powder coated.

These things are a complete pain in the ass and I'm still not 100% satisfied with them. They came just cut out to a generic shape then its up to you to bend the 2 sides 90 degrees and then trim off what was needed to be trimmed. For the price of $140 (I got them for $70 due to an error in pricing on the website) I would think they would have came ready to install. Oh well, I'll do the job of taking up the empty hole left after removing the mirrors.

Chasis harness is done and my buddy will be coming over tonight to finish up the engine harness.

I'm not sure if any of you have ever heard of Chase Bays, reason being as they are somewhat local to me and several of us here in my town know Chase. Well I just want to inform ya'll to never do business with them. Their harnesses are complete garbage I've had several friends buy or have a harness made by them that ended up having to be completely redone. One friend even brought his car to chase and they had it for several months (2G AWD) and he ended up having to completely redo the entire harness. Also even chases own personal car who my buddy was tuning (he owns a local shop) caught on fire due to bad wiring.

I really hate to badmouth a business, but with constant problems with their product and numerous first hand experiences with this I just want to forewarn everyone about them.

Looks nice. Have you heard anything back about the driveshaft issue?

I've got the driveshaft off the car. I'll be shipping it out monday back to Driveshaft shop to get made 1.5" longer.

Carbonetics carbon fiber hatch came in today.

Went on real easy and fit just like the stock hatch. I didn't have to do any modifications to it or even adjust anything after bolting up all the hardware off the factory hatch.

Here it is with the FAL window installed on the car.

My personal opinion is 1G's look fugly without a wing but I can't get myself to drill holes into this thing to mount a wing. I have a 90 GSX wing sitting with all new OEM hardware but I think I'm going to wait and see if the wing is needed for down force at the track later.

Some updates.......

Got a sheet of carbon fiber in today for the custom gauge cluster as well as the center console piece. My buddy originally did it in ABS plastic which looked good, but I wanted to liven up the interior a little since the car will be pretty much gutted out and have a few things look decent and catch attention.

12x24 and 3/8th thick so it won't flex. This should be enough for everything.

Here is the center console piece done with the ABS plastic. The double din will also be done in CF and I'll mount all my switches there.

I need to take some more pictures of the great wiring job my buddy Ace has done so far on the car. He has been pretty creative so far and still keeping it simple like I want (I'm not a fan of tucked fuse boxes). I made it clear as long as I'll be able to get to everything without having to remove stuff to get to it I'll be happy. I'm thankful I have a friend that enjoys doing this stuff because I HATE wiring.

Also since I have the Braile battery the Moroso battery box is just way to damn big and overkill. Well I was thinking and it has to be sealed and vented (NHRA Rules) and I couldn't find a halfsize battery box online so then the Military man in me thought, Just use a 50cal ammo can! Its sealed!

So BAM!

Of course I'm going to clean it up and either paint or powdercoat it. I also went by Lowes and got some all thread and a piece of aluminum flat bar to make my tie down. This thing will take up less than half of the space as the huge Moroso box.

I really dig the hatch! Wonder if he can wrap the stock wing in carbon fiber to match the hatch? You're right, 1g's look butt ugly w/o wing.

Kirkey seat mounted finally

I can post mine but it's nothin special

Please do as I feel the same about mine haha!

I just got some steel square tube and mounted it where the factory rails went. The Kirkey seat doesn't sit center on it because if it did it would be off center of the steering wheel so the seat has to go over towards the driveshaft tunnel hump as much as possible. I got everything to make it from Lowes. I plan on taking it apart and getting it powder coated along with a couple other things I've made like the ammo can battery box and tie down bracket.

I thought about running crossways support bars for the seat rails but I don't think its needed now that I have it mounted.

I'll take some pictures on my next off day when I take it apart to take to powder coat.

If we can come up with a good mount, I can have a friend make it out of AL or something that we want.

Here is my simple seat rail mounts. I simply used square steel tubing from lowes and for the front I just used OEM nuts that are used to hold the carrier bearings as well as the fuel cell on the car.

F37F8A74-A07D-4ECC-BE30-716E550CF498_zps40uipt3q.jpg

For the rear I just used some long bolts, lock washer, and a spacer.

Got my 50cal ammo can battery box back from powder coat and got it installed.

Also I was hoping that my blown factory hatch struts would be able to hold up my carbon fiber hatch and FAL window but unfortunately they weren't, When I installed the hatch it held it up fine but once I put the FAL window on it was the straw that broke the camels back and it wouldn't hold it up. So instead of continuing to use a pair of vice grips to hold it open since I can't install new struts onto it because it would snap the CF hatch. I decided to just drill a hold into the struts and use a cotter pin to hold it open. Works perfectly! I plan on attaching a lanyard onto the pin so when I remove them they'll just dangle and he close at hand to put them back in whenever I have to go into the hatch area.

Also my buddy Ace who has done all of my wiring has been working on my gauge cluster and it should be done soon. I'll have 2 gauges on the left side, 3 on the right and the Defi tach in the middle with a carbon fiber back.

He's also working on the center console piece and it should be done soon as well. Carbon Fiber will replace all of the ABS plastic where he originally did the console piece to cover up where the climate controls and other buttons were. Then where the radio and din pocket were he's going to put one large piece where all of my switches will be mounted and labeled. One for the radiator fan, one for the electric water pump, one to arm the nitrous, and one for the purge. I'll post some pics once it's all done.

I ordered some more fittings and stuff from summit to finish all of the vacuum lines and other stuff needed in the engine bay. Also my radiator should be done here soon so I can finish up the electric water pump setup.

I'd glad to see some forward progress being made on this thing.

Gauge cluster is finished. Just waiting on the AEM water temp gauge to show up.
