I have removed the power steering pump from my GSX and have the replacement pulley ready to put in. I removed the nut that appeared to be holding the pulley on and now I am lost. Is there something else that needs to be removed before I can pull the pulley off?

Thank you.

I need information on getting the pulley off the pump. My first post states that the pump is out of the car and that I will be reinstalling it with another pulley on the power steering pump.

The shaft and pulley interface is splined, so it may take some penetrating lubricant and knocking/tapping back and forth with a rubber mallet or similar to have it wiggle off. A puller wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

Most pullers can be rented from a local autoparts store. Our local exhaust shops will pull them for $10 though.

Thanks everyone, for the more adequate responses. I will get at it first thing in the morning.

I apologize for bumping this post but I recently tore my power steering pump down for a rebuild and I had the same problem. I feel that as long as the post contributes then it could be acceptable.
To take the pulley off with the power steering pump off the car.

You will need:
A large vise that can hold the power steering pump
19mm wrench
17mm wrench

Lock the power steering pump in a vise with the pulley facing towards the ceiling. You will notice two flat sides on the power steering pump that will gladly accept the force of the vise without scratching the pump.

Take your 17mm wrench and ouch the closed end of it through one of the large holes in the pulley. The open end of the wrench should be able to lock on one of the flat edges of the power steering pump. The reason we go through the home in the pulley is because on some wrenches the open end it two big to fit face first.

Now take your 19mm lock it on the pulley nut and go to town. You will notice that the 17mm you have locked on the edge will contact one side of the holes in the pulley and allow you to loosen the bolt.

I will update this post with pictures when I do my rebuild. Or I might mock up a rebuild to do the pictures sooner.
