Hey guys, looks like I might be picking up a new DSM Possibly trading my Type-R Swapped Integra for a 97 GST. Im getting the short end of the stick on the trade, but im looking to get back into something boosted (dont wanna boost a perfectly good b18c5). Now, onto the concerns... LOL

The car seems to need a decent amount of work. My last DSM was a gs, so I am mostly unfamiliar with the 4g63. This is what I know now. Apperantly the car has a new timing belt done within the last 3 months (done at some shop in Denver called Kens Kars?). When we met up to trade I noticed that his clutch was slipping, so on Thursday before we deal it is apparently getting a new clutch at my request from Revolutions here in Colorado Springs. So there are two major things out of the way.

Now, the car has some sort of ignition by-pass. Its a hand held starter? ? I guess they are commonly used to remotely fire over a car while working under the hood. Its somehow hard wired into the car, so the car will NOT start without pushing the button. Im not to knowledgeable when it comes to electrical work (I can make due) so I dont really know how to take car of that. To keep with the elcetrical issues, the car also has FOUR gauges that are wired to light, but do not work. The owner also claims that when he got it the previous owner had two blow-offs on it.... again, WTF... It now currently has one (either hks or knockoff). I guess its common place with a front mount for the coolant reservior to need to be relocated? So its zip-tied to the bumper.

Anyone got some advice or willing to help get it back to being a respectable car? LOL

Sounds like something I wouldn't buy, but I cant see the picture. Sounds like he knows nothing about the car which is concerning.
The click start is a security system (aftermarket) It could be a mess if he installed it himself.

Sounds like one of those cars that has been just passed around to a million. Knuckle head owners.

When I have had cars for sale in the past, the people who contact me with some kind of trade always have some kind of junker they are desperate to pass off. If a ccar was nice, clean, sound, why wouldn't you just sell it?

I would look for a different car. When buying these old cars its best to either buy a clean stock car, or a high quality built one that is completely finished and functions correctly. It is so easy for people to hide tons of problems when they are selling a "project".

Forget the trade, you are in a prime metropolitan area to find another one that is not a basket case of shit. My suggestion would be: put the Acura up for sale, you know some kid will buy it, and use that money to buy a solid DSM from somebody a little less shit-baggy. Just my $0.02

I hear ya guys LOL. The only REAL selling points on it where the fact that Timing and clutch will have already been done. To tell the truth, the car hits hard. I had a stage 2 wrx and it felt pretty damn similar, so I dont know if it has a 16G. Owner now says its a t25. When we did a test drive and meet it was 7pm and -5 degree's or else I woulda inspected alil more. The owner now is a younger dude, probably like 20ish. Just doesnt seem like he knows much about cars at all. I guess all mods were done by the previous owner he says.

Ive tried selling my car myself (asking price of $5500) but there aren't to many people around here willing to shell that out for an integra, when for like 2k more they can get a used high millage wrx. So I had it listed for sale/trade. Get alot of offers of other Honda's and stuff, just trying to get out of the Honda scene. To many idiots. I dont do the "car scene" Dont do meets or anything, I just like the work on the cars for myself.

Id actually prefer to swap for a gsx but most are run into the ground or people dont wanna get rid of them cause of the AWD in Colorado.

I'd say buy it... you can rip everything out you don't want and I'm sure you can find online how to put back that electric start to stock... then again its your car your money your headache

Think about the outcome for future inevitability...

I bought a basket case like you describe... took me a little over a year of just being able to work on it in spare time to get it all right... left me stranded a few times, failed emissions for two months... the only reason it made it worth the money to me was it had QUALITY parts on it, 16g fuellab afpr, wally 255, injectors, fmic, tial bov.... you get the idea, I just named off 1/2 of what I paid for the car in parts. It was just put together very crappy, vac delete was only half done, wiring all over that led to nowhere... PLUS, I have a second means of transportation.

My advice is keep the integra and save your money, you could probably buy this basket case for under 2 grand and have a dd and a hobby car.

I know you'll probably trade it up, but good luck. I like that teggy more than what I've seen on the eclipse. Always been a fan of the gsr and that body style.

Does the GST have lower millage? Under 100K? Just curious. I'd agree with what most of the people said here though, sell the Integra and pick up a DSM that isn't a hack job. Him willing to do the clutch is a sign that he knows he's getting a good deal IMO.. B18c5 swapped Integras will go for a lot to the right person.

do you need to turn the key then hit the button? He probably jumped the wires at the starter because hes to cheap to buy a starter. I have done cheap things like that before except I used a doorbell switch I found in the shed.
