We have been taking care of Willy's GVR4 for quite awhile. It has been a stock 6 bolt for a long time, happy and content on 92 and a stock motor. However recently Willy got the power bug and decided to have us build him something that was capable of pushing the FP Black safely to 500whp. While it is certainly possible to do that on a stock motor, Willy didnt want to risk it so we put together a 2.0L shortblock and reused his cylinder head.

Build -

EnglishRacing 2.0L
Wiseco 1400HD 9:1 pistons
K1 H beam rods
Magnus V3 intake manifold
ACL bearings
Mild port work to the head
Crower 414 camshaft set
Crower valvesprings
Fuel Injector Clinic 1120cc injectors
EnglishRacing 3" exhaust
EnglishRacing 2" O2 dump
EnglishRacing Double pumper Fuel kit (dual intank 255s)
ETS 3.5" FMIC kit
ECMLink V3 with SD tune
Omnipower 4 bar

All of this did rather well on the break in tune, but right as it was starting to get interesting I ran out of fuel. The next stage will be larger injectors to push a little harder but until then, Willy is going to have to settle with this -

Initially there was a little bit of an oversight in this build and it was put back together with a stock 2g O2 housing though it had been ported. No matter how much you cut out of one, they simply cant flow enough before they become a restriction. How much? How about 50whp.

Before someone say its because there is more boost, which is obvious, its because the reduction in backpressure allows more boost out of the top since the backpressure ratio isnt out of control now. Turning the boost up higher before actually reduced power as the O2 housing only choked it worse with a higher spike. Once Willy gets the bug for more power I am sure we'll be turning this up even further.

Very nice results and quite amazing how much was left on the table with the stock o2 housing hindering performance. I'm sure Willy will have lots of fun with it now! :hellyeah:

I am impressed with the DSM version of the FP Black so far as it compares to my experience with the Evo 4-9 version. Here is a car that is pretty much mod for mod and boost for boost (where it matters) above 6400. The reason it was higher boost down low but the same torque is do to me using timing and MIVEC to control it and keep it safe on a stock bottom end. Willy, having a built motor, got a little more timing to keep it feeling lively since he doesnt have MIVEC like Daniel did.

Title says e85.

Isnt the FP black a 67mm compressor wheel?

Compressor wheel - 82HTA
Flow rating - 68LB per minute
CW Measurements - 59.1MM Inducer / 82MM Exducer
TW Measurements - 67.3MM Inducer / 58.8MM Exducer
Compressor Housing - 84MM Flow Advancement Port Cover
Turbine Housing - FP 8CM
CHRA - FP Dual Ball Bearing
Oil Line - Included
Recommended oil - High quality non GF-4 synthetic

I want me some mivec. That boost come on pretty quick with it. I am actually surprise to see the FP black hitting full boost a little late during the pull on a dsm. It is still a great power band for a bolt on turbo. Great job!

Sorry for the delay in getting back and answering questions. This was E85. The FP Black is basically an HTA3582 wheel shoe horned into a stock appearing housing. I didnt post it but the car made 370 on 92 octane pretty easily but it was focusing on the E85 tune so I didnt push the gas too far.

Killercolt,

JohnnyTSI did MIVEC on his 6 bolt 2.3 and ran it in Link. Seems to work the way we want, maybe not as much resolution as a IX would have but it definitely works good.
