So I just pulled the carpet on my 1999 GSX and the tag indicates that it was made for a 2g without abs. I thought all '99 GSX's came with abs from the factory?

I'm not too sure about the 99 GSX's but my 98 doesn't have abs... I'm sure it was an option or maybe the carpet was swapped?

Most 2gs have an ABS controll unit under a passenger side false floor panel. My 99 GSX did not have this computer or floor panel, though it did have ABS. I'm not sure where they hid the ABS computer in the 99s, but that might explain the carpet part number.

Ok found it behind the headlight thanks! I was miffed when I didn't find the computer when pulling my sound deadener haha.

Brian isn't that the ABS pump? The controller is in the passenger footwell mounted up on the right wall I'm pretty sure.

Was yours? Mine has an integrated pump and controller near the driver headlight. There is absolutely nothing in the footwell. I thought all 99's were like this

Well I'll confirm what that little box is hopefully next time I stop by the shop that has the car. I only just saw it for the first time last week when looking at the cage work but it's where I was always told the abs control unit would be so I am assuming. I'll snap a pic in the next few days as I have to go back to work on gauge mounting.

Brian and Eric are right, I'm completely wrong. I took a picture of the unit in the foot well I was referring to and they confirmed it was actually a cruise control module. So please disregard my attempt at confusing everyone in this thread :)

Not completely wrong, as some models do have the controller in the passenger footwell. But you'd know if it was there as it's right where your feet go. Here's a picture of it. For reference, you can see the massive plug hanging down at the bottom, which on a '99 will be down behind the headlight.
