would a stage 3 exeedy clutch be way to hard to be a daily driver?
1998 eclipse gsx is what it would be going in it currently has a stage 2 but had to pull it out because the previous owner killed it

Stage 3 huh..

What performance changes does your car have?

I had hks cams and stock T25 with a manga flow car back and FMIC followed by hard piping all on stock boost with a stage 2 clutch in one of my GSTs and the dam clutch was super aggressive too stiff grabs just instantly not fun for a daily trust me...

Stage 2 clutch probably went out since the previous owner didn't know ho propertly drive the car...make sure to check the slave cylinder as well.

16g turbo 550cc Injectors VRSF Short Route Intercooler 3in Turbo-back (Megan Downpipe, Apexi N1 cat-back) ARP Head Studs ACT Flywheel Exedy Stage 2 Clutch ( maby a stage 3) he gave me a exeedy stage 3 that looks like this link----> Eclipse Talon Laser 2 0L Turbo 4g63 Eclutchmaster Stage 3 Racing Clutch Kit | eBay but im not shure if i should put a stage 3 in there because i have never driven one before. i have drove a stage 2 quite a bit tho

I have a 6 puck kevlar, stage 3 on a gsx. feels smooth and dreamy, but thats just me, individual experience may vary

its not to " grippy "? for example how does it handle in traffic in the middle of town?

Stage 3 is a little much IMO. For a street car i would say 2 or lower. from personal experiances anyway. some people like to drive on full throttle through every gear. not my style in a street car. at some point a nice slow cruise is in order without having to get going then hold your clutch in.. ha

Just get an ACT 2600 PP and run a stock OEM disk. You will have plenty of grip. Have video proof of someone running low 10's and a 1.38 60' with this setup. It will be light enough for traffic and smooth enough for daily driving.

First of all saying you have a stage X clutch doesnt mean a thing. Every clutch company out there will call their clutches something different. No one can tell you how a certain "stage" clutch will drive unless we know more information about the disc and pressure plate. If that was my car I would go with a slightly heavier pressure plate, maybe a 2100lb and a kevlar disc. OEM organic disc will hold the power your putting down but kevlar has a higher coefficient of friction which will allow the clutch to hold more torque while also still being super easy to drive. Also kevlar will last longer and its about impossible to burn up. Ive slipped a kevlar disc the whole way down the strip before, after letting it cool back down it was good as new.

The link you posted is a ceramic disc, it will drive a little more aggressive than kevlar and wont last as long. It would still be plenty easy to DD. Hell I DD a sintered iron disc currently and it doesnt even drive that bad.

A stage 3 clutch seems pretty heavy to me. I had a 2100 ACT in my car and it grabbed really good. I am not sure on that brand because different brands will rate their clutches differently. The ACT seems to be the best choice in the dsm world and i also agree with that opinion. A 2100 would be fine for the setup your running but a 2600 ACT would probably be a better choice especially if you will upgrade more in the future. The 2600 will grab quite a bit more than the 2100. My friend has a stage 3 clutch in his car and i cant stand to drive it with the way the car clanks and clunks around.

Also since the trans will be dropped definately think about upgrading the flywheel or check to see if yours needs to be resurfaced. If you plan to run more fuel and boost later i would strongly suggest running a Fidanza light weight flywheel as well. The 2600ACT and Fidanza flywheel seems to be a very good setup. Might as well do it right the first time and not deal with it again like i have.

I guess im just worried that if i put it in ( i dont really have money to get a diffrent one ) i will end up breaking something trying to go through the citys i plan on takeing my gf to her faviroite location sometime soon to ask her to be my wife as she loves my eclipse as much as i do haha. anyhow i just dont want the clutch to crap out so soon after i put it in. due to it being the 6 puck system will it engauge rough or will there be no such thing as a smooth engaugement? will it burn up in traffic ( moveing 4 feet stoping moveing 10 feet ect... ) what are your guys expereinces with stage 3 pros? cons?

Again a stage 3 means nothing to anyone here. If you want a clutch to last go with a kevlar or a stock oem disc. A ceramic or iron disc will only decrease the lift span of the clutch but it will increase the holding power.

My unsprung ACT 6 puck w/2900 PP wasn't that bad to drive daily over the summer. Given it would really suck when accelerating from a stop going up a hill. Apart from that, it wasn't too bad. Lurchy, would usually engage 5th pretty hard (my fault really) but held power very well.

Going to swap it over into the daily 1G until the disk is completely worn out as the 2G needs an upgrade.

It's all personal preference some people think act 2600 is to much I run a 2600 with sprung street disc and love it. Peddle is deff stiffer then stock but not bad and can still slip it to get rolling on hills easy enough.

Well the reason I don't want to put a stage 2 back in o's because it wouldn't be able to hold the power when I ran upwards to 16 psi of boost I know it's not much but it would let go even before the oil leak

I hate this stage crap.

I've got an ACT 2600 with the street disc and Fidanza flywheel, it's rather heavy and a bit of a bi*** to drive in traffic.
Friend of mine has a South Bend clutch and says it feels like the stock pedal.

Smart guy ^,
he said it, kevlar rocks and to be honest i like the 6 puck kevlar much better for street, regular adult responsibly driven vs stock. Mine does not pounce or snap , its very smooth, to me it feels like a little kitty curled up inside my tranny ROFL

My pedal feels like a plush pillow, maybe that's just one unorthodox experience, but mine is softer than stock and grips like a gorilla when it needs to. :hmm:
