Alright so everyone I have a 90 Eagle Talon TSi awd with a 5 speed transmission. Well what it's doing is, it's cutting out under full throttle and when it starts to peak at 14Psi of boost. I have a small 16g turbo, all hard intercooler piping (no fmic just hard piping), Wally fuel pump, 2g exhaust manifold and some other stuff.

Could it be a boost leak causing it to cut out like that?

ya know, I believe it's stock. Not 100% sure, I got the car how it sit's minus the gauges and a turbo xs manual boost controller.

Is it consistent with RPM/load when it's doing it?

You need to start with the basics- boost leak test, then new plugs. Both cheap and easy.

Cut down the psi to 10-12 for now...

It happens all the time or out of the blue when you try to floor it?

mainly when i try to floor it. Sometimes out of the blue.... I don't have a way to cut down the boost that I know of.

My gst was doing the exact same until I lowered the boost to 9 psi... what I believe it is, is that your ecu is mapped for a certain psi so when you up boost its more air so its triggering the ecu to respond by cutting out... so I'd say either get tuner or try getting a gm maft...

The level in which this happens is far above the power that you are going to be making on a stock turbo. If you have to turn is down that far than you have a boost leak plain and simple.

alright so i should be looking for boost leaks?

Here's a picture of my engine bay when i first got it. Now it's a lot cleaner.

The 1990 has a different ecu than all other years of turbocharged dsms, the 1990 can only account for 19% more airflow than stock as to where all others can account for 39% more airflow. Turn that boost down until you get some tunning device or a 91+ ecu

I have a apexi SAFC 2 that needs installed so hopefully that will help

You have proof of this?

Yes do a boost leak test. These cars should have a boost leak test performed as often as you change the oil.

Ok good to know I thought I fixed all my boost leaks... but why would it do it at higher boost say 12 and not 10? Also only after 2nd gear.. I can take it to redline forst and second but top of 3rd slam cut out... that's why I looked into the ecu forums... I actually up my boost to 25 psi then down to 20 and was doing the cut out at top of 3rd.. so I lowered Iit to 9 and 10 and its fine... anything over 12 psi not good

Your car will boost harder in 3rd, than in 1st and 2nd because there is more of a load on the engine. What is the temp outside where you're at?

I had the sameproblem i ended up riping the motor and tranny out and we found out that my input shaft seal was leaking oil on my clutch. So if you load up of boost and the clutch disengauges like mine did it may be that im not saying it is its just a possablility

the stock 1g maf is only good for about 10-12 psi on a bigger than stock turbo mine cuts out too if i go wot on 3rd 4th and 5th on my e316g need a 2g maf or a
gm

I have a 92 talon and boost is at 18psi stock turbo/maf and no cut!

Also a while back I had boost leak and I couldn't figure it out..

The boost leak was coming from the throttle body. Bought all seal necessary and boost leak fixed.
