Setup: HRC20G @15lbs Daily, Evo 560cc injectors, Stock 2g MAF, FMIC, 3" Catback, WB. Nothing special. I need a good tune. ROM I have right now is pretty much just stock tune with some MAF work done for the stock 2g MAF. But car still idles bad. Up and down, up and down.

I've been using 96530006 Tephra V7. Only one I seem to be able to use right because I dn't have a Crank Sensor.

I don't need anything special. Just something to get it running good and clean. Not caring about racing or anything right now. Car is my only vehicle till my SRT8's done.

Its the tune. Not a vac leak or bad timing or biss screw changed or this or that. If I put my stock injectors back in with stock ECU it idles and runs fine. All gaskets are brand new, everything is flawless on the car. Never had idle surge until I put the Evo8 on the car. There is no ISC or FIAV to worry about as well as no EGR. It should be idling flat at 850 where it would be on a good tune.

***EDIT*** Actually I believe I mainly need a good MAF Scaling for a 2g MAF on the 96530006. My tuner will be dealing with the rest later but tells me he's not very good at the maf scaling because he works on SD mostly. If anyone could possibly take a screen shot of a good map. I could easily copy it over.

I'm using a different rom from you, My numbers start at double digits.

19
25
50
..ect.

I'm using 9653. The one used for JDM Evolutions. They didn't have a Crank Position Sensor. Which is best to be used on 6bolt swaps like mine, without it I will throw a crank position sensor code continuously till I delete it.

Look in the "First Flashed DSM ECU!" thread, On the first page for stock 2g MAF scaling.

Like I previously posted, I'm not using a H8. I'm using a Evo8. Those Maf Scaling maps wont work for the Evo8 ECU. It calculates things differently. Atleast thats what I believe.

I was trying to use this:

This is my scaling with evo injectors, 2g maf, FP intake and a small air filter. Not perfect but my trips seem to be +-10%
but when I open the rom in ECUFlash, it doesn't allow the numbers to go that low. Maybe somethings have to be changed inside the table but I don't know.

There are different scaling you can use for both the left and right hand sides of that table.

When you have that table open, hit Ctrl+M. This will open the map table definition options box.

Choose Airflow8 for the "datavalues" (top portion) and AirflowHz for the "Y Axis" (lower portion).

This should change the map to make it looks like what Zach posted.

The other thing to look out for is that some Evo 8 roms include the MAF Adder in with the MAF Scaling, while others don't.

Theres my info. My friend and I (a fellow Evo8 DSM Tuner) are working on getting the idling down. So far we have it down a little better but still having issues.

Here's my tables from when I ran the Evo 8 ECU.

I'm thinking about switching back... we'll see.

Have you used the actuator in EvoScan to adjust the BISS? Then reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery. From what I've heard, the ECU stores a set of ISC trims. I didn't have any idle issues when I ran it, other than a dying alternator wreaking havoc on my tune. I actually had to tune a 10v injector latency.

^^^^^

Everyone should learn something from this ... I had a buddy pop an alternator belt at IFO in Houston last weekend, we didn't have an extra belt and we didn't have enough time between rounds to set the latency because we had several friends running in different classes.

Tune the voltage compensation as good as you can ... it may keep you in the race or get you back home.

Explain this.... "Tune the voltage compensation"? Sounds interesting. I'm currently having an issue, the car is spitting at mid to high rpm. Hard. It was running just fine till a hard launch. Also notice that if I'm not full throttle but boosting and my signal is on, the car spits everytime the lights flash. New Alternator and battery, When car is running, its around 13.5v on the log.

I'm not exactly too sure on my current rom anymore. IDK anything really. Car was running pretty good, now its spittin in WOT. And even normal driving when my WB reads 14.5-15AFR the car eats through gas. Have gone through half a tank of gas in the past 60 miles.

I'm starting to get irritated with this tuning shit.

Here's my tables from when I ran the Evo 8 ECU.

I inputted this and the car runs great on it. Car ran good already but this was a noticeable change as the car started quicker, ran smoother.

I'm still interested in this tuning voltage thing. Sounds like something I should be working on also.

The scaling i used was without the adder, this was an older rom. The new v7 roms have the adder already added on the table.

I think I need to find someone with a similar Setup that will let me have a copy of His Rom. Something that is already running Good and tuned. I'm tired of problems and just want a clean Setup.

Where do you guys find these maps? What I'd really like to find is the evo 8 RalliArt map for my 2gb Talon. I've got a 6 bolt swap with a 7 bolt head and all the supporting mods, (evo 2 intake mani, 1g throttle body, FP exhaust mani, evo o2 housing, Ross pistons, eagle rods, and I have the evo 8 injectors and 9 fuel pump, but naturally I haven't put them in yet until I have a tune.

I have an evo8 ecu in my car, and have helped a few other people with with evo ecus set up some base maps. PM me your email, and I'll send over something that may work well.

I'm just starting too. 95 tsi awd, evo 8 ecu, 550 injectors

I downloaded this hex 96530006 - EvoEcu
disabled immobilizer and swapped coils 1&2 3&4 (inverted cas)

she fired right up!

Changing maf settings to what is listed above.

What about injectors? I can only get it changed to 552 not 550. What Injector battery voltage latency comp is anyone using? (is this the only place to adjust injector latency?)

thanks guys

Are you still having the issue with the CEL? For injectors with the EVO8 ECU you don't match the size of the injectors in the ROM to what you actually have, not even the factory ones match, there is a bit of an offset. For the 550s you will probably be good with the setting for the stock EVO injectors (513 if I remember correctly). As for latency comp you might want to dig around in the EVO8 ecu thread and see if any one else has the same setup as you do for injectors.

CEL issues are gone. I honestly have no idea why it was doing that.

In fact, before the first flash the CEL stayed on for ~15s (long I know) after batt dis/rec.

Now it goes off without having to batt dis/rec and within ~5s. Also, no relay chatter.

Thanks for the tip on the injectors. I've seen .180 a lot for mine, but the method for adjustment was to add data all...basically increasing all values from 96530006 - EvoEcu and something is telling me that isn't right.

**update**
I got back to the car this morning and it wouldn't fire up after making adjustments to the maf and injector latency (.180 add all). Reflashed to previous maps ..nothing. I would get backfiring... one of which multiple neighbors came out to investigate:D. Sitting in the driver seat it put a ring in my ears almost like a close gun shot. So after scratching my head for awhile I pulled the spark plugs and low and behold I had soaked the spark plugs :ohdamn:. Took them all out, torched then brushed them. Put the ROM with maf settings back in (minus the .180 injector latency) and it runs again! :thumb:

**update - again**
I added the .180 back in and no problems ...I'm not sure what cause my spark plugs to get soaked, but I'll pull them in a couple days and check again.

Update -
The car idles at 10.5 a/f ... I think my stock fpr is getting overrun by the 255. It will lean out up to 13 while driving. Going to park it until I buy a afpr with gauge... sigh. I would put the stock fuel pump back in, but my 16g has pretty bad boost creep on stock wg pressure.
