Hi there,
My buddy and I are working on roll all 4 corners of our 2g's fenders. So the fronts wernt an issue using a baseball bat and a phone book to stretch them, but the rears have that pinch weld right where i need to roll to prevent the tires from rubbing.

How do i go about rolling that? I have thought about cutting it out and coating it to prevent rust, or maybe get to work with a hammer. just trying to figure out hte easiest way!

Thanks guys and gals!

I never tried a roller myself but I too cut slits in the lip and banged the sections up with a shot filled mallet. Worked that way for a good many years without rusting thankfully though I do count myself lucky on that. I did spray paint as best I could at the cuts.

Im running a 225x40x18 on a 9.75x18 wheel. I just did some playing around with the camber kit to see how close ill be getting and i defiantly need some adjustments to the fender. pulling wont be needed but that lip has to go. I dont plan on the tire being in the way all the time, but where i live, the roads are terrible and id like to avoid scraping tires on the fenders.

A fender roller WILL NOT work. I own an Eastwood roller and tried this exactly with no luck. I had to cut slits in the pinch weld and beat the lip in with a hammer.

False, I rolled mine with a fender roller.. Use a heat gun and the roller and take your time..

I did my rear with an Eastwood roller. It took several steps. The first was rolling that lip as flat against the outer fender as possible. Then I used the roller to pull (push) the fender out. I did it in the middle of the summer on a fairly warm day and used a heat gun. I still cracked the paint.

I Just did my rears Friday. I just used a 2.25" steel pipe with a plastic coating i found in the scrap at work. Had a buddy push the car slowly back and forth. I just increased the angle of the pipe with each pass, worked great. I think it may have pull them just a bit as well.

P.s. Please run a correct size tire/rim combination. A 225 on a 9.75" rim is not safe at all.

P.p.s. What would you like pictures of?

Don't do it, it will ruin the unibody. That is a structural seam area. You cant get much out of a roll in that spot. Unless you do extensive rewelding to remedy it.

This. Heat is your friend.

Heres mine. No cracking paint or rust. Some of the seam sealer on the pinch did peel off from the roller, but I just sprayed some clear over it.

Sorry pictures arent great.
