Thank you all! due to the weather we've been having down here in Jersey I haven't really gotten to work on the car. I picked up a couple of parts like spark plugs and spark plug wires and plan on having them installed tomorrow. Got the new fuel filter as well so that's going in. Car has about another month of sitting left so I'll have time to start racking up on parts. Have to take out the oil pan because the gasket is leaked oil so as soon as I get the car moving ill put it on the ramps and do that. Only thing stopping me from doing the trans and the clutch is not being able to move the car for the reason that it doesn't have plates yet. So first week out and that'll be done. I'm going to get a Gates timing belt, tensioner, water pump and do that as well when I start really moving the car around. Tomorrow will be the day I'll work on the car and check if I can get it started which hopefully I can.

All the comments made here to help are really useful thanks!

After about 4 hours of hard work the car finally turned on. It actually just was the fuel filter. Alternator works perfect as well, no more squealing. Going to put in the 3g lifters. Next time I work on the car I will do an oil change, the new oil pan gasket, and flush the coolant system and put fresh coolant.

Wow glad to see you doing things right. I know that if you keep your attitude up and positive, you'll be there in no time!

So today I made an attempt to do the Oil pan gasket. I drained the oil, took the front engine mount off then unbolted the front of the downpipe. As I made my way back and attemped to take the other end of the downpipe off I noticed it was welded. OMG. It was a real fun day though because I finally got time to work on the car and the weather wasn't all so bad. I'll probably get some friends over to help me out and do the oil pan gasket. It's definitely going to be a learning experience.

Here are some pics.

End off day. I made a real big mess with the oil :ohdamn: luckily I had cardboard underneath and nothing really fell on the actual floor.

I'm not far, im right by vernon nj. It looks like your going down the right path and i hope she is good to you!

Got some help today from Born2Race and decided the path I'll take for the car. What I'm doing is dividing everything into sets. With my first set I'm taking care of is the transmission, clutch exhaust, and the bearings. Do that in one sitting. I will be buying an SRS Exhaust since i have read good things about them and they are very affordable. XTD Stage 3 clutch for now because I still need to get driving a standard transmission down and don't want to do anything crazy with a clutch. Later on the clutch will be upgraded with something a bit nicer. For now I'm just going to clean the engine bay up a bit.

looks like you got a really good start going there man! keep it up....

and im assuming "stage 3" is a miss type? wouldnt you want to start with like stage 1? LOL

just saying that stage 3 might be a bit much off the bat. i know its right in the middle but you have a better time
getting used to driving with a stage 1. just my 2 cents unless theres something im missing. LOL

XTD is a fairly cheap clutch. I've been told that it feels pretty soft an is great to learn with. Did my bit of research and think that's probably the way to go on my first clutch. I don't plan on keeping it on the long run, definitely a temporary thing.

Its been going well so far. Picking up some parts here and there and finally got the fuel filter to stop leaking (I think). Cleaned up that disgusting valve cover. Lasted a couple of horus and it still won't clean up. So I got it Sandblasted for free! Then I started to paint it. Black with Red letters. (Note: I've never painted anything before ) Ordered a clutch as well for the new trans. When I drop the trans I'll get the flywheel lightened up, luckily I'll have a temporary DD. Rod bearings and new couplers were ordered as well. Of course with this NJ weather the car is now a foot under snow again and I didn't finish the VC just yet. :ohdamn: . She'll start back up this weekend. After I'm done with this, time to do the timing! And of course the paint starts to peel of the rims....

Did I ever mention how much I HATE chrome rims?

Lots of things been happening now. Things are all starting to change up. Finaly got the car up on jackstands to do the trans. Will be nice to have all 5 gears. Picked up a 16g, strut bar, hard upper ic piping and an open dump o2. Will post up when the cars all back together.

Haven't updated in a while but the car is still running strong! Now I've got a Evo 3 16g in it and it feels amazing.
Engine bay is cleaning up nice as well. Got a new front bumper and might repair the carbon fiber hood soon.

Put Spacers on the rear because I got tired of the rim hiding inside the car :barf:. Not as bad anymore

A new temporary front bumper I picked up for $20. Lot better than my messed up one.

Ported a stock mani for the 16g. 16g was already ported.
