I changed the head on my 98 gst a month ago drove the car once went to the car wash came home. Everything ran fine from the head to t belt and tensioner is new killed the car the next day went to start it noticed it was off timing. I put it back on time started fine killed the car and it wouldnt start again only thing it does is spend over is there something i did wrong. I been puzzled on what the problem could be someone Help.

You didn't set the tension properly. If it is set properly than it physically can't jump time.

If the car jumped timing there could be bent valves, I would double check your timing marks and do a compression check. It could be your auto tensioner failing or the initial tension not set correctly. Did you measure the tensioner rod after turning the car over by hand 6 times and waiting 30 minutes for the plunger to stabilize?

Yea i took the timing belt off the 2nd time turned it by wrench to the timing mark at the bottom im gonna wait til it warms up a lil down here ill be sure to get my boss to bring it to the shop im gonna check everything all over again i was thinking it was my back pulley

There is more than just lining up the marks, throwing the belt on and pulling the pin on the tensioner. You have to adjust the tensioner pulley so that there is the correct amount of tension on the belt. If it is done properly than the belt can't skip.

I was under alot of pressure from the baby momma to get it running it couldve slipped my mind now that i ponder on it i was close to just ordering a performace motor and say #### it LOL but im gonna look it over tom cold or not thanks for the advice guys keep it coming

Not correct , they will turn just fine with bent valves. How is the belt so loose that you were able to just turn the gear back into time?
