Just a quick question on removing the ECU. It's kinda a really rush job, my poor buddy's dsm (92 talon tsi ) is wrecked. In the street. Something busted, won't know what, but he wants to get the ECU out, but the problem is somehow the terminal cables them selves have melted to the battery. So it's stuck in there. We got it out of the cover, we just wanna know if when we unplug it with the battery on will there be a problem?

Lol if the answer is obvious I'm sorry rush job trying to get it off the street waiting for tow truck.

Thanks

Joey

P.s I just woke up. We are gonna take it back to his garage once it's out of the way.

P.s.s A little more info...it's cold. Also it's a Dsmlink v3 he doesn't wanna lose it if he can get it out. He saying something "snapped" and he just lost power when he was doing a test run. Said saw some smoke from the hood.

P.s.s.s We got it out :D

People always say to disconnect power when you pull the ecu to prevent shocking it when you put it back in. I think the tune is stored on the rom so it should be good to go. Glad you got it out.

It's been a completely hectic night/morning but it's sad to say the talon is no more. The transmission is gone. All most all the linkages have been 'melted'. last nights there was metal in the street, we realized that those to came from the tranny it's self...that and there was a large crack going down the tranny. I'll upload pics today. Some other problems were shown also but for now from what I've seen and to my knowledge he is scrapping the talon and just doing a transplant to the (lucky) GSX in his garage collecting dust. This is what he think is a good idea. I'm telling get another tranny. I told him I could find plenty on here. If he wants but he said he has to decide on it. It's 7:14. I'm tired. I shall go ahead as say it's nap time, cause I know Saturday will be even more crazy. (I'm waiting for my v3 ECU to come back home from ECM) :D

P.s Before it evaporates from my mnd completely Does anybody know any MOBILE welding service? Or better yet is it easier to take the TB elbow off and just take the elbow to a shop and have them weld the IAT sensor on doing the whole SPeed Density set up.(if they could such a thing) I don't know much about welding so if I sound stupid bare with me. I live in the Richmond, VA area.
