For a bottom half 7 bolt what head would be good to use 7 bolt head or 6 bolt head and what would make a difference

Assuming for the car in your profile, a 2Ga 7-bolt head would be better because it would be easiest.
..............................good means easy, right?..............................

What are the goals for the car/ engine?

What turbo?

What will be the rev limit?

Going to eventaully put a dif tubro on it and I would like to push close to 400hp

Yes 2 g with a 7 bolt... the vavle on head got bent

Technically a 2g head flows better but the intake manifold is super shitty and chokes them so you'll make more power with a 1g head and intake manifold.

Use the 2 g head. The 1g head will require that you use a 1g cam sensor, which can lead to misfire problems.

I would just use the 2g head, if u want to go threw the trouble to use a 6 bolt head, why not just do a complete 6 bolt swap. Just my opinion.

So you have to use that 6 bolt cam sensor...

That or a 2gb cam sensor which also requires a 2gb intake cam. There are no holes in the 1 head to mount the 2ga cam sensor. Both would require you to wire the in, and swap the plug wire firing order. The 1g sensor will also require you to also swap the fuel injector firing order. Using a 1g cam sensor without dsmlink will most likely cause the car to have random misfires also.

The newer evos use a modified version of the 2g intake port design. It's just a better flowing design than the big honkin 1g ports. But if going 1g, try getting ahold of the black top CAS.

Found me a black top years ago I was going to do a six bolt swap, but this was a long time ago. They run around 80 bucks.

For 400 HP, keep your 2g head and intake.

The 2g head performs a tad better in the low to mid range than the 1g head from the smaller cross section of the intake runner.

The 1g will do better once you really start stacking numbers in the upper RPM band (over 8500 rpm)

Make sure you ream the 2g head bolt holes to 13mm so the 6 bolt 12mm studs will pass through the head with out issues.

2gb would be nicer. Same head but that CAS, what a nightmare on a 2ga! OR, you could keep the 2ga head, get a black top CAS. You get the position benefits, they are adjustable(unlike 2g cas), AND you never have to worry about your CPS again. If you have link, i would suggest this. Otherwise, injector pin swappin is in order. Thats probably no fun
