This is kind of a off the wall questions that I know has many variables.

What is the most common size of upper intercooler piping being used?
And what are the most commonly use brands of clamps.

Thanks
MP

Try searching for different FMIC kits that are commonly used.

Typically 2.5" piping is the most common, although some use 3". And sort of hose clamp or t clamp will work.

I don't think you need anything bigger than 2.25, but I've seen a lot of 2.5 out there. I would always use high quality T-bolt clamps and silicone couplers. Just a tip, if you can find a diesel truck hose supply store, or any hose supply place really, they usually have 3-ply silicone tubing in almost every size imaginable and quality clamps to go with it. Best part is its CHEAP!

Here is what our new VRSF FMIC looks like for a '90 Talon TSI AWD. Santa brought ours. It is a short route kit. :thumb:

I haven't got started on the install yet, we have had ice and very cold weather here so I am waiting for better days before I jump into taking the front bumper off which looks like the hardest thing on this simple little ad on. But I thought a picture was worth a thousand words so I thru it on here for reference.

I'll second that. Remember your motor will and does twist in the engine bay so it will need some flexibilty but the fewer the couplers the better for havin boost leaks to check and tighten up.

Nice piece looks like santa was good this year around I like that kit, but I got a rather large core on my dsm, I think it may be a garret fmic it came with my awd I recently purchased.

2.5IN is the most common around here . Clamps can be purchased anywhere. Ive had some from ebay that were "ok" but not the greatest quality. I like to get mine if im ordering individually from siliconeintakes.com. Its a great site if you need a reducer or specific clamp or coupler that didnt come in your kit. the 2g tb elbow is like 2.25 and im always needing a coupler that goes from that to 2.5 it seems. The quality its top notch.

My VRSF is a 2 1/2" kit so that the OP knows what he is looking at. Thanks for the compliment Victor!! :)

2.5" is more than enough. My recommendation is stainless steel pipes, t-bolt clamps, and high quality silicone couplers. I tried ebay intercooler parts and they do not work very well (t-bolts do not form a true round wrap, aluminum pipes are too thin and bend when tightening clamps, silicone couplers are weak). I would use Vibrant components for DIY project or recommend to get ETS short route front mount kit:

It really depends on the size of the turbo you are running. I run 2.5 inch piping on a gtx30 at 550hp and it works great, but on a stock size turbo I think 2.5 inch would give you some lag. Just my 2 cents.
