Ok, I need some pointers on what I need to do. I drove on a road trip and was on my way back home, the power steering locked up and the battery randomly died, fortuneately I didn't warp a head in my engine while this happened as far as I'm aware of. So I take my car to the shop and the serpentine belt was gone and now replaced. I drive my Talon today and the serpentine belt is gone, the same thing happens except this time I'm having a massive coolant leak which looks like its coming from the engine, I checked the oil and its not foamy or milky looking. So I know its not a blown headgasket. I was told the weephole or whatever it is called is gone and now my water pump apparently is shot. I can work on my car to an extent but it becomes a headache as I dont have the tools a professional has. Can I get someones advice?

The car is a 1995 Eagle Talon TSi FWD

Many thanks

No serpentine belt on a 4G63. It has three belts - Alternator/WP, PS and AC (if equipped).

You COULD have a gone WP, but a blown HG can do that leaking also.

It can blow with the crack from the water jacket of the block to the outside edge which will not let any coolant mix with the oil.

He shredded 2 serpentine belts. Blown head gasket wont do that. OP is probably right that the water pump has seized up. Problem is he stated he drove it until the battery died. I would wager that now he has a warped head at least.

I checked the oil. Smoke is normal coming out of tail pipe. As cold as it was outside I also made frequent stops and had people charge me up fortunately I have a battery charger in my trunk. I bought a new water pump and seal and serpentine belt. Does anyone know of any manual how to put this in? Mechanics tend to get pricy.

First thing to do is find out why you are chewing through the serp belts. If the front bearing is wore out in the water pump it can cause the pulley to wobble and chew the belt.

But if this is the case you should be able to grab the pulley and feel the slop in the water pump

The belt keeps slipping off because the antifreeze keeps getting into the threads of the sprocket causing slip. There's no wobble but because the coolant gushed out all at once this time. There could be suspicion I blew a head gasket or there is a major hose/waterpump leak near the water pump

Are you abe to drive a good distance without loosing much coolant? If it keeps leaking, can you determine if its just from the water pump itself?

Yes, I can drive a good distance and not lose much coolant until last night when the serpentine belt came off the 2nd time coolant gushed out from somewhere really fast, like my water reservoir literally drained. Fortuneately I limped it to the shop and she's being worked on and didn't warp a head....

Its time to replace the water pump, and the 2 - 1 1/4" o-rings on either side of the main water pipe. They were hard as a rock and cracked up on my '95. Also you'll probably want to replace the 6-8 small little rubber interconnecting hoses with the spring clips, as well as the heater hoses, and the rad hoses, thermostat, rad cap. This is standard scheduled maintenance and it should be done on a car this old.

You want to keep the belt dry at all times, and the proper tension, so fix up those leaks and with the new pump it should be good. The crank shaft connects to the water pump and alternator with one single belt... and the water pump has a second pulley that connects to the power steering. So without the crank to water pump belt, all else will fail, but doesnt mean your alternator or powersteering pump is shot. They could be just fine.

Before you do anything maybe do a compression test to determine if the engine headgasket is ok, if you ran it too hot for too long you could have done more damage than you think. If so then your in for a major repair. good luck!

side note, if you havnt done the timing belt in the last 60K then this is a good time for that as well, since you have to remove the timing belt cover to get to the water pump.. May as well do the timing belt pulleys and tensioner, oil seals, balance shaft belt while your in there. Its a PITA btw.. better to let the mechanic do it, your looking at a grand at least.

I have done the majority of these things, and the Serpentine belt has came out for the 5th time now! I'm not sure if its because the engine dip stick keeps popping up and splattering oil onto it and causing it to slip off? but It never slips off they keep snapping in half. so I want to know what going on? Do you have any idea?

I'm not getting any air conditioning I was told it was the ac compressor and to try to bypass it. I'm not sure if that's causing the belt to snap all these times. It only happens when I'm on the highway and I hotrod past an old grandma than I feel like o have a boost leak but I tested it and there is none....
