I know this has been gone over and just about everyone has talking about it (they love it or hate it)

I've been looking at this picture (the one I have as my avatar) for years now. I've always thought it was cool but was more focused on my engine build... Now that i'm more than happy as to where i'm at in solid relieable power I think I want to start on this conversion.

My question is if anyone has tried it on a 1g here in the states?

Does anyone know the exact parts needed to work this conversion?

I can do fab work and anything else so i'm not to worried about that. It would help to know what would have to be fabricated if needed though so I can get a better idea as to what i'm getting myself into.

From what I can see, it looks like flaired euro fenders with just the evo front bumper and hood... the lights look like a stock 1gb that just have the bumper covering them. (could be wrong, not sure.)

I know the rear of this car has been fitted with the evo rear air diffuser as well but i'm not to worried about the rear of my car just yet, only wanting to work on the front. for now...

Still an idea but any Information would be great.

i saw a few pictures, and have a front side and rear shot of that car. it is so beautiful. it looks like the whole front end is evo x. like they cut the eclipse fenders at the door and fitted the evo fenders.

Headlights look weird, but looks pretty good overall for a 1G.

Would be nice with color matched door handles, and without that black molding down the side of the car.

^ the top is a Lancer, the other an Evo. Different cars -different bumpers. I don't think you people understand how much work that guy did on that conversion , this has been tried several times, there's a reason you only see ONE that looks actually pretty good. .
You can't just simply get an Evo X front bumper , bolt it up and slap some bondo on & call it good.

More power to you if you attempt and are satisfied.

This is just me but if I wanted to roll around in a car that looked like an Evo , I would drive around in an Evo.
I like the looks and body lines of a factory 1stgen , so plastidip was all I needed to spruce up my bumper life.

That's 20 bucks for 2 cans and a roll of tape
Vs
Well over 3k in bodywork and paint.

Your car looks like it has a busted off bumper.

I'm sorry you feel that way , it probably seems that way in the picture , but you can clearly see in person that my bumper is in fact , not busted off.

The main point of the plastidip was to protect the bottom of the bumper from the inevitable scraping that occurs here In the Panhandle. Seeing as white plastidip is a different tone than the white of my car, black gives it an aggressive clean look IMO.

I agree, that is something I've never seen before on a 1g and I love it. I'm sure it looks even better in person.

No offense but

:dsm:

No offense but you get what you pay for. That guy spent the time and money needed to do it properly. To even compare that rattle canning a bumper is ridiculous.

Exactly , he was trying to make his 1g look like an Evo.
My goal in "rattle canning" my bumper was not to look like a different car.

& if you think plastidip is like every can of paint I welcome you to try painting detailed lines with it and show us how you do.

This guy spent who knows amount on paint , body work , and whatever it took to make it look how he wants.
I didn't pay for an Evo X conversion on my dsm , as I'm well aware that's not what I got.

OMG the pics in bud09's post are just too damned sexy, its put together perfectly and the clear gloss black with pearl white paint is just too perfect :applause:......now if you'll excuse me I have some business to attend to....:sneaky:

I love the look of the rear. with its rear air diffuser would love to have that for my 1g.

If the 2g conversion was done right I think it would look good. The only one I saw was pretty hacked together..

Idk, I think our 2g's have too much rounded body lines; whereas, the 1g's have more squared body lines to match the square front end of the EVO X.

The real question is, did he take it as far as to putting a 4b11 in there?:hmm:

I like the sides, I like the rear, I just wish the front was different. I cant put my finger on what its missing but it doesnt go with the rest. I mean it doesnt look bad at all and I do like it but I think Id shoot for a rounder front end to go with the body.

Now that would be interesting , I saw a guy I want to say on this forum that did an Evo IX swap in his 3rd gen eclipse, I can't find him though.

That's kinda cool , I think the 3rd gens don't look half bad but there is no performance model.

I looked at my evoX next to my talon and I have no idea how that guy made that work easily. especially the head light section.
