So you don't think a heat range hotter is needed at elevations above 5000 ft?

My piston advertised compression ratio is 9:1. At my elevation the effective compression ratio is 7.7:1.

I have replaced these parts with new OEM Mitsubishi Parts or NGK within the last 2 months or when engine was rebuilt 4000 miles ago.

1) Coils
2) Ignition Transistor
3) 6BR NGK plugs, 7BR plugs, Autolite plugs tried all 6BRs in now.
4) NGK plug wires
5) Cam Sensor
6) Crank Sensor
7) Temp Sensor
8) Knock Sensor
9) O2 Sensor
10) Thermostat (STANT 170 and 180 degree tried both)
11) BLT'ed..I do have internal leaks but all leak back to intake side of turbo.
12) EGR, EGR System to include vacuum lines, plastic valves, and solenoids.
13) Ran a separate additional 12 gauge ground directly to Coil hold down bolts.
14) confirmed mechanical timing multiple times.
15) New OEM Mit. EVO9 BOV
16) New air filter
17) New Fuel Filter
18) compression test....155ish psi on all cylinders. (Please note my elevation this is equivalent to about 185 or 190 in the low lands)

I just put in the 5s and again the car runs smoooooothhhhhh. No Subaru sound at 2500 tp 3000 rpm with old plugs that only had about 500 miles on them. If it were an issue with something why will new plugs fix?

The plugs I took out look really good....tested ohms on them and got 4.28ish kohms on plugs from cylinders 4,3,and 2. Cylinder one's ohms was 4.01 kohms.

Not sure what the readings should be......should have tested new ones.

Seat of pants feels like 50 hp to 4000 rpm improvement.....but maybe its just the fact that the Subaru sound is gone.

I think you are grasping at straws. You probably have tuning issue that needs cleared up if your wiping plugs out that fast on a stock car.

Can't say I completely disagree but just so you know the issues of altitude.

Standard atmospheric pressure is 14.7 psi at sea level, Mine is 11.0 psi....20% less:banghead:

Well, I did a WOT (12psi) pull with the NGK 5's and took the plugs out to read them. The thin line on the electrode is closer to the tip of the electrode than the middle.....this implies even the 5s are too cold for my 7000 feet of elevation....:banghead:

Any suggestions?
