Okay so i just changed the head gasket on my car put it all back together and started it it tried to die but instead idled at 600 and shook really bad, sounded like a subaru. We checked compression and its perfect, we checked for spark in coil then spark plug wire and there was good spark. the plugs are brand new NGK iridiums and of course they have good spark as well. The spark plug shows like no residue from gas, i really want this to get fixed, there isnt any other people having the same problem. anyone know the problem?

get rid of the iridium and install the proper copper core NGK plugs in.

First off, hello fellow Iowan!!

Are the plugs gapped (spelling?) correctly? You have spark, so did you possibly mix up the plug wires (wrong order)? Lastly, check to make sure fuel injectors are working properly. All I can really think about at 12 AM.

^^^^^ also what they said!

the compression is good in all 4, the other 3 are firing. when we pulled the spark wires out of the other ones it started to die more. but when we pulled it from piston number 4 it made no difference. good compression, good spark,

thats what im worried about. maybe it is the injector. we do have an injector cleaner. what could make an injector not work?

get rid of the iridium and install the proper copper core NGK plugs in.

My friend has iridiums in his 6bolt talon and they made his car run better.
also i did put the old ones back in and it didnt make a difference.

Try using a noid light on the injector to see if its firing.

You could also try pulling that injector and moving it to another cylinder to see if the problem moves with that injector.

Yes! thats what those are called haha yea we used one and it worked fine. lit the light up.

my firing order is really screwed up on my car. not sure why its the way it is.
normaly its 4321 to 4123 but mine is 4321 to 1234 or 4321 to 4231 its messed up. the coil is fine the wires an plugs are fine the plug to the injector is fine and compression is fine. i think i just need to mess with the injector now. Does you guys know what would keep it from spraying?

Swap the injector from the #4 cylinder to another cylinder and see if #4 quits missing and the cylinder it swapped to is now missing.

Also what are you calling good compression?

125-160 pounds, and also there is plug wire its orange and black it wasnt plugged into anything and i found it where the maf was wired in at. its the exact plug as the one on the intake. had a metal clip on it. wondering where it is supposed to go

That's perfect compression to you? I don't think so. That motor is garbage, time to take it apart.

NGK plugs for sure also there is the 7 wire flat sensor located around the egr valve area. I got e 85 on mine once and it did the same thing. I think the 1g are 5 wire. I might be wrong though, its been a while.

If you got 125 on one cylinder or 2 there is another issue on hand that I would try to trace down, might also want to try a leakdown test to be sure, 135 is the service limit I believe but I could be wrong ill have to look again, my compression is 180-185 across all 4. Try the injector swap, and I'm not sure if that connector goes to your mas or not kinda looks like it.

There is the unhooked plug. I have no clue where it goes
It looks like you have a 6 bolt swap looking at the CAS on the head.how many wires coming out of the plug. If its 3 (yellow, black, black&white) then that would be your vehicle speed sensor connector and hooks to the sensor on the transmission.
Check out this link, its full of pics for all connectors its # 41 on the list, shows location to hookup.

Check your coil pack and injectors. If removing spark plug wire on 4 does not change anything then there might be an issue there.
Use Ngk BPR6ES gapped at .028 to start with.

Do you have a picture where the plug should be plugged in at?
And the coil throws good spark and the sparj plug wires also have good spark. The spark plugs are brand new. If it wasnt timed right could that make only 1 piston not fire?

The vehicle speed sensor connector you showed above is in the link i referenced above, page 2 #41 on list.the vehicle speed sensor is there looking down from the firewall passenger side by the transmission mount. You will see the the sensor upright from transmission.
