So my car is apart at the moment and I want to install a roll bar. Has anyone installed a bar/cage from either Auto Weld Chassis or Rhodes Race Cars? They both have really great prices for DOM roll bars and cages, but I can't find any pictures or discussions of someone putting one of these in to a 2G. I've already contacted both and they don't have any pics of their products in our cars. So does anyone have a bar or cage from these guys with pics?

I have the Auto Power bolt in four point in my car. I also have the extra pieces to make it a six point, also from Auto Power. Very simple to install. It could definitely be closer to the roof in my opinion. Aside from that, very well made.

I as well have the auto power roll bar and I like it! I added padding to mine (pool noodle) and a fire extinguisher. I think I saw one in the classifieds a couple of weeks ago.

I have the auto weld 10pt. I haven't installed it yet but i did do a test mock up to check fitment. Its a tight fit with all the interior in but it all can fit.

And its the style that runs the A-pillar bars through the dash so you'll have to do some hacking to your dash there (no big deal).
If i remember correctly the main hoop had about ~3/4in between the bars and the side panels and the same on top with the headliner.

Is this a weld in cage? How much was it a d what was shipping?

Yea its a weld in, and i think i paid ~400 for the cage and around 150 for shipping. When all was said and done it was around 550-600.

Please be sure and post up pictures once you are done with the install. Since I am keeping full interior, I am really interested in seeing the installed fit for the 6/8 point section. What side bar option did you get?

Ill have to see which bars i got since i cant remember at the moment, i believe they were the straight ones as i was worried about them hitting my Bride seats and hoped these would miss a majority of the seat. Ill post some package and maybe a few mock up pics later tonight.

Im starting to lean towards making my own cage. I will not be using any of the interior rearwards of the console and inner door panel. Even the door panels may have to be modified. With no headliner or rear trim I d like the bars to tie into the chassis in multiple places to prevent the road course gforces from flexing the frame. Therefore I want the tubing as close to the unibody, anything designed to fit with room to spare around the trim doesnt seem like a tight enough fit for my needs. I ll have to see what I can do with an ideal racing seat and driving position and see how many bars I can get away with safely in a road car. Worst case I wont run more up front than door bars, but I d like to have a front A pillar hoop tied to the rear. Even at 5' 5" I dont think I can pull it off without wearing a helmet. Sitting high enough to see over the dash seems to give me the problem of putting my noggin too close to the roof if bars were above the drivers window.

Because if you weld the plate into the car you dont need an under plate.

I understand that. I was asking why that would be a deal breaker for you. Whatever, do your thing. I was just trying to help. I got mine from I/O port. It's in the back of sports car magazine.

Was yours the "u-weld it" kit? Like the add on for the six point? I have that for my car and the A pillar bars Don't go through the dash. Just to the front of it and down to the floor. I haven't installed it yet, but I test fit it and it definitely will not make it through the dash.
