I picked up a new Fuel Lab AFPR a while back and I finally got around to installing it. Well the gauge that come with the kit doesnt seem to want to thread all the way in. It gets around 4-5 threads in and stops completely, even when using a wrench.

I have tried running the NPT tap in both the FPR housing and the die over the gauge. This resulted in no gain at all. Has anyone else had this issue or found a solution to the problem?

The reason it won't thread all the way in is because it is an NPT thread. Notice in the picture you posted of the gauge that the threads are tapered. As you turn the gauge in to the FPR, the fit gets tighter and tighter and that seals it. Perfectly normal. Those threads are not meant to be threaded balls deep
 
I know they dont go balls deep, just figured they would go farther than what they were. I took the tap/die to them a bit more and worked with them. It goes another 2-3 threads farther but I am not gonna push my luck. I do have teflon tape on it as well. Just bugs me because it really limits where I can mount it.

^ The above is correct, it will not thread in completely, thread it in till its tight and not leaking and you should be ok. And I would advise against running a thread chaser on it unless you have an NPT thread chaser, or you might make it start leaking... As for it limiting mounting location, if its really that much of a problem, you could plug it off completely, or run a line and put the gauge elsewhere, but ofc that adds more complexity.
 
I just said to hell with it and ran the npt tap through it a few times. Ill teflon tape it and mount it behind the throttle body on the firewall.
 
I would take apart your FPR after this just to safe. It would really suck to discover a cut in your diaphram from a metal shaving after you've put everything together.
