They would compete with themselves. A AWD turbo Eclipse would cost the EVO market sales.

You can get a srt4 its fwd and turbo

And the new Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Veloster turbo. The Sonata does a 14.5 quarter mile completely stock with a gorgeous full interior. :thumb:

Pretty sure I read that Mitsubishi North America never had a CEO until recently (past 2 years or so?). Therefore, that is why we see Mitsubishi having a slow decline from the late 90s to where we are now. However, I read Mitsubishi has appointed a Mitsubishi North America CEO so hopefully we see some bulk "commuter car" sales, which will turn into money that Mitsu can develop new sports cars. Anyone else notice how Mitsubishi actually has commercials on TV now again?

I always say to my friends that Mitsubishi should have never went away from the AWD Turbo formula. Look at Subaru, they've kept that formula and are doing fine with sales.

Sonata and Kia run Ralliart motors. Ford has the Taurus, Fusion, Explorer, Focus and Fiesta ST that are turbo. Chevy has the Cruze and Sonic turbo's, etc..

Tons out there

True dat.

Well in August of last year, the eclipse was finally discontinued with a Kalapana black 3.8 v6 sold to charity from assembly line.As for the Evo, the evo XI might not even come back and if it does, it will have a hybrid. Mitsubishi is shifting their focus to electric and hybrid cars since the market share and sales have diminished. It seems like chevy is pushing the 1.4t, ford has the ecoboost 1.0 T and 1.6t in fiesta ST. Awd is hard to find in new gen, its mostly fwd with turbo and gas saver small motor :(

Audi, BMW, etc. Lots of AWD turbo choices. They just aren't cheap.

car companies will slap a turbo on anything these days...what happend to the good ol' days where turbo was for enthusiasts and cars just came with vtec/mivec/vvt-i LOL

The gf has a subbie. It's pretty cool. I'll always have a 4g63 as well, but as far as what is on the market. Subaru has more AWD models than anyone. I wouldn't mind daily driving a legacy.[/QUOTE]
True, subaru has a consistent motto and the wrx sti is still living with lots of support.
Come to think of other awd, Mercedes will have the CLA45 AMG with AWD outputing 355HP. They are using a borg warner twin scroll turbo at 26 psi of boost. They are claiming most powerful 4 banger ! Im a bit partial, im a fan of MB :D
I guess there are other options, but a bit more expensive.

Yea I heard a lot of complains about the CLA, doesn't fit in with the other MB, heard a lot of the work was outsourced and the quality isn't there. The GF's dad has a CLS 550. It has twin garrett turbos. Pretty ballsy car for not being an AMG, Put srt-8s to shame ugly. His isn't the 4matic so only RWD. But AWD is a possibility as well. I'm curious what the CLA AMG price runs now.

Possibly over 45k i bet man, because the cla250 is priced around 29-35k... Im sure the amg version is not outsouced, they are built in house, not to mention amg handbuilds their block. Not too sure on this 4 banger. I know audi and bmw cant match this power, but damn over 45k is a lot to spend on fast subcompact.

What were the evo sales in the 90s not what they are today because only one car comes turbo?

What 90's Evo? They didn't make it to the US till '03, and there's very few other places the turbo DSM was sold.

If you want my opinion on Mitsubishi: They don't give a shit about America or cars anymore. Our emissions/safety regulations are complete BS and anyone in the market for a new car is all about paying 1 dollar to go 1-million miles in some gutless, plastic pile of junk.

If you research Mitsubishi, you'll see that cars are a VERY small part of what they do. They basically own Tokyo, are one of the top electronic producers, and have been the largest military contractor in Japan for decades. They would likely rather have Engineers working on big money stuff, rather than wasting time on AWD turbo sports cars that are chained to the ground by our laws and undersold by our dealers.

But in the major scheme of things, the era of amazing over-engineered cars from Japan is over. Look at what happened after the "muscle car" era. They still produced "Camaros" and "Mustangs", but they were nothing like the cars of years prior. It took decades for those companies to get their head straight and realize that people buying a Mustang want POWER, not some Eco friendly commuter car with a fancy spoiler bolted on. So it's only natural that the first real "Tuners" to come out of Japan are now being replaced by inferior predecessors floating off the legendary names.

I'm glad they let the Eclipse die finally. The 4g was a step in the right direction after that abomination called a 3g Eclipse. But it'll be a very long time until they realize the market they lost, and who knows if they'll care enough to try and get it back. My money is on No.

I'll agree with you there. I had a 4th gen eclipse 06. I believe. It didn't look near as cool as the last years but still even the plain Jane 5spd 2.4 was great car to drive and never gave me any issues even after I started throwing some quality RRE parts at it.
