Love the build thread, I need to start my own also. It's nice knowing there are other clean 1g's out there!! Keep it up and keep us updated.

here's a video of my best pass of the night. it just happens to be bracket racing against that ferrari 458. he dialed in an 11.50 and i dialed in 12.50 because i had no idea what the car was going to run. needless to say, i broke out and lost :(

Badass video man!!car sounds good, are you running anti lag or a two step?

i'm running the normal ecm link v3 launch control at 5500rpm. it was only building about 3-4psi of boost. but i'm using nlts set at 6k rpm. the anti lag is on backup incase i really wanna get into launching harder.

Nice, with the 2 step at 5500 on my old 16g, I would build around 18psi LOL I wish I would see that with the 6266!!

the anti lag was making about 12-15psi. but honestly i'm not sure how well it would hook out of the hole if i launched with it. i may try it out the next time i go out. another thing i want to look into is a tcase brace before i start doing real hard launches.

coming soon may be one of these beauties!

Yeah, i've been looking in to the T-case brace and rear diff cover. I actually just got a PM back from Frontline about them.. Transfer case braces are $475 and rear diff covers are $415.

as for right now, i'm just going to focus on getting that tcase brace i think. i've heard great things about that unit. i clears everything nicely, and obviously works too. i forgot about the two other things i need to look into getting for the car. i'd like a set of 272 cams... either from kelford or dks (both seem to have good reviews). also, i need to go speed density most likely. my 2g maf has nothing left.

Well I went back to Sonoma raceway tonight and ran a new personal best of 11.759 @ 122. This time around I just tried a couple suspension tweaks to get the front wheels to hook better. My launching is definitely improving, the best 60' I was able to pull on my street tires was a 1.777 sec. I missed 4th gear 2 of the 4 passes and I ran between 12.1 and 12.3 until the final run.

I basically just changed the settings on my rear agx struts all the way stiff to 8 to keep the weight transfer from the front to the rear to a minimum. Basically at 11.5 or faster im going to have to add more safety stuff. So I have a feeling I should be doing some research on what exactly I need to do pretty soon. I was also told by the tech that if I trap 135mph or more I think I need a roll bar. Luckily for me, I dont think ill be trapping that quite yet.

Clean 1G man. I just picked up a set of EVO wheels like yours but they are painted black. I have to fine a place to strip the paint off and make them a raw aluminum again.

thanks for the kind words dude. here's a little update… so last time i was at the drag strip i did manage to break something on the talon, the seat. LOL. i'm not sure why this happened, maybe it was already broken and the launching is kinda what did it in. but since the seats are the color they are, and there not being many wreckers in the immediate area, i just opted to weld it… here's a pic of the broken part, its the part where the back hinges on the bottom where you would sit on.

and then there was another odd thing happening. the door jamb started to rub, and this was only after i started really launching it. so, i'm guessing its chassis flex from that. so, my fix of that problem for now will just to add some kind of cushioning to that to keep that slightly under control… below are pics of that, maybe someone else has had or heard of someone who had this problem.

and last but not least, my most current timeslip and most current mod, the titanium wrapped exhaust manifold, and downpipe.

i'm on the right, a mustang 5.0 with slicks was on the left. i dialed in an 11.50 just so i wouldnt break out easily. but by the end of the night i was getting closer and closer to it =P. i dont personally care for bracket racing, i just like doing timed runs or heads up.

i made a little acceleration video last night. just to kinda show how the car pulls in its everyday trim... the back seats were packed with stuff, there was basically things everywhere in the car and a 100% full interior... i'm guessing like this, the car weighs about 3500 lbs. and this is with my quiet street muffler on. at the drag strip i have a stright pipe exhaust. also, there's nothing different about the tune or boost level from when i was last at the track.

Very nice 1G man

well, here's a new development... my jacks transmissions stage 4 trans took a shit yesterday. i was on the freeway accelerating a little and suddenly in 4th gear i hear a loud clunk and it just revved up. LOL. following that was the sound of a bunch of metal being smashed up by what was left of my gears spinning around as i now went into 5th. i was able to get the car to a parking lot, i put the car in 4th gear, let the clutch out... and the car didnt make a peep, didnt move, nothing. haha. so, obviously that thing is dead. so, now i need to make the decision to either go dogbox, or auto swap it. i should know very soon here what i plan to do. either way, its going to be stronger than it was.

Ouch, that's rough. How long have you had that transmission? You'd think a $2500 tranny would last a while....

it had under 10k miles on it and maybe 15passes. im just gonna go auto now. so i guess 10s should be in my near future.

im picking up a complete auto swap this weekend. more pics to come as i do that. i should be getting started this weekend also.

That's a pretty damn sexy 1G. Hopefully I can get together with you some day since I'm just up the road in MountainView, and pick your brain about performance, and road racing settup stuff on my 1991 gsx. Love the car. That is on super sexy GSX.

here's a little bit of an update from whats going on with the ongoing build. so, i went and bought another dsm... which i think is probably a very common thing for a dsm owner to say. LOL. this one is basically stock. all it has in it are the ipt clutches, and maybe a shift kit. its a 93 talon tsi awd auto. it only has 125k on the clock, so, it should make a great donor for my 91. the only reason i bought it was for its transmission. and it had all the parts i would need to swap over. since its all stock and not fast or super nice in any particular way i decided to take it off road to see how it would do...

aside from the ground clearance being a little issue it did pretty damn well, i wish i had some more mud to blast it through. but it definitely made it up some stuff that it didnt look like it would be able to climb.

the plan here is to swap my 5 speed stuff into the auto car, and my auto stuff into the 5 speed car. and what i will end up with is my 91 with an auto, and then i'll sell the 93.

in a few weeks or so i should get around to starting this swap, i still gotta buy a few things to make it all work. and for now i'm going to try the stock converter since im not 100% sure what i'll need for a stall. and i was able to get this one to 3k rpm and 7psi on the stock stuff on the 93. if necessary i'll throw some nitrous at it to get things moving at the drag strip once everything is in the 91.

Auto is awesome! love the build it looks great.

Have you installed the 3000gt trailing arms yet? This is my next upgrade along with the rear brembos. What year do you need to do the swap?

no, i didnt install them. i've actually been trying to find a set so that i can finally get those damn things on my car. i'm kinda getting ready to move the car 150 miles north to where i plan to swap all the stuff over. i miss going fast... the stock talon isnt doing it for me, LOL. my lightly modded 2000 volvo s40 is WAY faster than it. i just need to order the couple of goodies that i need to complete the swap (flexplate, and shift box). so soon i should start posting new updates of the progress. being a new father and keeping bills paid doesnt leave much time for my talons =(

the scoop did the trick, and its working quite well. coolant temps are down pretty much under every kind of driving, and now the car doesnt run warm at all. once i'm comfortable with the ground clearance, and confident that i wont have to adjust things anymore. the scoop will be painted flat black..

Can I get some more pics of the scoop? I'd love to see how it was done, I want to do the same thing to my car.

Thanks!

erik, now that i have the car up and running again, i'll try to do that for you. sorry for the late as hell reply, but i'm gonna be posting more updates in here now.
