Hey TURBOSAX, i know it's been awhile since you have updated this thread and I've been watching it for the info on the ported/unported data. I also plan to run an EVO 9 OFH. I have to ask what you are thoughts on running the stock lines and cooler? I seen the thread about the cooler you choose to run but I have a perfectly fine stock cooler with lines, I plan to to port the OFH also becuase my set up will be close to stock as yours (i.e. BSE) also.

I haven't had time to touch the car in a long time, but I do plan on porting it within the next month or so. If the stock lines and cooler will fit for you and came off a clean engine, I'd say go for it.

Before porting, I would see oil pressure as high as 98psi. After porting, the maximum oil pressure I see is 80psi. For what it's worth, I also changed from 10W-30 Mobil1 synthetic to 10W-30 Valvoline Racing Synthetic (VR1) oil. Pressure at idle didn't change.

Just a heads up, I just ordered an EVO9 setup from JNZ and they said that this bolt is discontinued:

Lower left - MF241266 - 8x1.25x65

Think an electric die grinder would work well for the porting?

You better have very good control of that die grinder. IMO, that's too beefy of a tool as you need to make finer adjustments to the port size than you would say for a turbo exhaust housing. You might also have an issue with the bits being too big/aggressive and taking too much off without trying. A dremel is the best way to go about it.

Ah, didn't realize the metal was quite that soft. I have a dremel kicking around for little things.

Questions??? I have the evo9 ofh, evo9 oil filter and dsm ofh gasket. In order to do this mod do I need a oil cooler?

The better question is why bother installing an Evo OFH if you don't plan to run a cooler?

I know that question is gonna bite me in the butt, reason why i'm asking is that my old ofh is kinda leaking and car is due on oil change and since i'm planning on installing a oil cooler in the future because i'm tight on money right now. I purchased the evo9 ofh, I had an impression if I install this for now and get the oil cooler later.

Unfortunately you can't do this due to it not having a sandwhich cooler on it, you have to run something there otherwise your oil temps will creep and or you'll just pump oil everywhere...

You could install it and get an oil cooler delete kit to block off the ports.

Just get a forward facing ofh. That's what I'm running. It's cheaper than the evo one, and it doesn't have oil cooler ports that you need to mess with, and you don't need an oil cooler anyways, unless you're road racing.

I see but do i need to put the big round thing for coolant or to cool the oil? Theone that connects to the water pipe?

That big round thing is an oil cooler that uses coolant.

You pretty much have 3 options.

1. keep stock ofh and cooler, but you say it's leaking
2. forward facing ofh and block the water lines for the oil cooler.
3. evo ofh and block the water lines and loop the oil lines

So, let me clarify this, as you guys were saying is that its ok to run the evo9 ofh without any cooler or some type? As long as i recirculate the water pipe and block the 2 holes from the evo9 ofh?

You'll need to loop or block the water lines that used to go to the big round cooler, and on the evo ofh you'll need to loop the lines that go to the oil cooler. You'll need to buy the appropriate fittings to do that
