Sounds about right.

So, my update:

Basically, dug out my Talon. In it, under it, on top of it. It's basically been a storage area for all kinds of parts etc.

So, I can actually start working on it after three full years since I've made a pass.

That's it. Nothing special.

What sparked a fire Phil?? Thought you had your hands full with the archer cars?

Nothing in particular. My hands are full, but, not with the Archer cars, with everything else life presents.

It was just time to clean out the garage. And, it's been three years since it's been running. So, it's either get it back together, or sell the shell kinda thing.
I've done no work on it yet. So, we'll see what winter brings.

Phil, hope you find some spare time to start getting her back together!

Also, when is the auto car planning to hit the track?

Cool. Hope it makes it in time!!

Well I'm sure you will figure it out Phil. Would be cool just to see it make some passes. No record passes, but just passes.

These past couple weeks have been shooting me in the foot for time and problems getting the car ready in time for next weekend in sac. I got the trans swapped over and am fighting this stupid ass 3-speed scatter shield. Would've sent it back but won't have enough time to get another one in time. So I'm stuck cutting, drilling, and bending this thick pos.

But as long as I make it ill be out on all new ceramic coated exhaust stuff, back to the fwd trans, got some aftermarket acles, and I decided to ditch the stock compressor housing and gonna run the ported one I got. Time to give it all I got the last race.

Definitely. Would be cool to at least get a baseline before winter.

Yeah thanks. Would be nice to have it mobile again. Starting to think about what I want to do with the engine. You know, forged pistons/upgrade rods? Yes or no? Cams? Yes, but which ones? Etc. Everything is just a ''thought'' at this point. I think once I actually put some work in, I'll dive in full bore.

Well, hopefully it'll all come together and your last outing will have everything checked off in the 'optimal' category. Track prep, temp, driving, etc. So, best of luck and knock it out of the park...

Thanks for posting the updates Phil. My budget blaster project has progressed nicely in the 13 days I've been at it. 91GSX Auto plus parts total out at just under $5k...for now. Motor has 155k on it, dirty oil and leaky valve seals but it ran smooth. 14b pulled at 10 lbs of boost on the test drive. Trans shifted good. That's all I know about her but shes in good hands now...plus Phil's parts bin to the rescue! He even donated an old v2 link that I upgraded to v3 and should be here next week. So he's a sponsor too. Ha

Its gonna be tight but I plan to fire it up and finish lightening it all by the 17th and race it on the 18th. That's 25 total days of man work to bring it from total full weight street car to race car. Ambitious to say the least especially since I've got a wife n kids and a job. Lol

Ill be happy to run an 11.99. Big congrats to those on the list! Thanks again to my boy Phil for his parts bin and v2 donation

No prob! You've been working like a mad man the last two weeks. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Still have almost two weeks to try to make the date though. Hope it comes together and you get some baseline runs in before winter. 11.99 would be a great start.

So far what I've found for a 2g is a 12.50 @ 109, e85, AEM, 5 speed, full weight on street tires. I'm thinking that should be fairly attainable with e85/auto/link, anyone got anything better for a 2g?

Hopefully here in the next couple weeks I'll be able to get the car I'm looking at, mainly stock 95 awd auto with 64k miles, trying to keep it attainable with my college budget. Right now the plans are:

14b
Intake pipe
Full exhaust, o2 dump
ported ex manifold
cyclone intake (have one)
IPT shift kit/cooler
Walbro 255/750cc injectors
FMIC

I have a leftover eprom chip from a buddy set for the 750's, hoping they might be able to support e85, if not would a chip + safc be able to correct the differences for larger injectors? Planning on saving up for link but that'd be next year.

Good chance I spray this car later on as well, I know a lot of you are against it, but I'm not worried about being boost only, I want this thing to rip on a budget. Been through a few of shorty dtp's threads, and while I couldn't take it to that level, the results are undeniable.

Any reason why you should or shouldn't get it running to get it out again?? You really sound over the fence on this.

11.99 on anyones first outing is a long shot goal for most. BUT............ I think that with you and Phil putting the heads together that's an attainable goal.

Keep up the work, I think you guys will get it goin in time.

Any 2g guys getting in on some 14b love? Kinda of curious what the 14b/2g record is LOL.
As posted earlier in this thread, no real reason to sub divide a turbo record into car types. 2Gs can hang just as well. Nobodies put forth an effort yet.

Chasing a record is a lot of fun, but it takes a lot of dedication and patience. Gotta be ready for that.

Not trying to get too specific, but it does seem like there are only 1g's involved in all of these shenanigans LOL. Just mainly looking to see what I should be trying to compare to with a slightly heavier chassis etc. I've been looking at a few weight reduction threads here and there and see if it's possible to keep it decent while still comparable to a stock 1g.

Holy shit, my 2g went 12.7 at 110 with an AFC, pocketlogger, pump, 1g BOV, catback, filter, and a clutch, at full weight (~3400 lbs with me), in 2001. Surely people must have gone much quicker than 12.5 by now. When 16Gs were 500 bucks the 14b swap dropped somewhat in popularity for obvious reasons, but there were still a lot of people doing it until the mid 2000s. I also agree that there's no good reason to single out 2Gs when the only appreciable difference is weight, but it's still good to look at all of the variables and disclaimers when trying to determine where you stand.

It was posted on link forums. I think someone posted an 11.8x at 118.xx mph.

I think 11s should be a personal goal for you to shoot for. I dont see that being to far outta reach.

That's about where I was at...shouldn't be too far out of reach but still something to work for LOL. Hoping the auto will throw me out of the hole for a decent e/t, guess we'll find out.

I ALREADY TOLD YOU WHAT DO!! :nono:

Haha, j/k, after all the conversations, I don't think we ever came up with an actual plan of attack.

The reason you don't see that much on the 2G is because if the 2G guys got into the mix, it would be no contest. They would just WALK away with it :p

Ahaha, see what I did there? Man I just crack myself up all the time.....

So would it be better to do it with a 420a car then hehe?

No we didn't......still several things up in the air. The good news is that I've actually started work on the car. The rear subframe/diff/suspension jumped off the floor yesterday and back to its place in the car. So, there's the kickstart right there...

Anytime you wanna stop out, just get in touch! Going to IFO Sunday at Epping, you?

Justin - Did you mean it seems like I'm ''on the fence?''

If so, I'm not when it comes to getting it back together...however, the exact avenue is unclear.

I'm just not certain about several things relative to the cage, seat choice, and some other elements.

I've been able to make the decision that the car will see the strip again. Based on that visit, I'll decide whether it ever returns. The end result is the roadcourse, it's just way too much fun and rewarding not to get out there in my own track build.

And just a for instance here as to all my indecision:

Very soon, the car will be taken for the rollbar. I will obviously want to have the lightest, minimalist cage I can for the dragstrip. On the flipside, if the car was headed straight to the roadcourse, I would have a much more intricate cage installed. And, furthermore, I might do mild steel rather than chromoly for roadracing.

Anyway....this is the type of thing I'm battling.

Steve93talon, congrats on the 11 second monkey!

Curious as to what you did to gain an extra 3mph from the previous outing?

Phil1320, good to hear you blew the dust off of that orange car in your avatar, i always enjoyed looking at that picture. :p
