Where are the FWDs at????

^^ What do you think the key things are that help you get such good 60'. You don't seem to do to long of a burn out, what gear do you use for your burn out 2nd? And what boost do you launch with? Just thought it would be cool to hear about different methods. I know for me it was a combination of motor mounts, LSD, slicks and coilovers/proper setup suspension, the right boost to lauch with and of course learning the car and finding its limits.

That run was a little deceptive, as it was a crap 60'. I normally do a 3rd gear burnout and get 1.5's but due to technical difficulties I had to do a 2nd gear burnout. I launch at 7500rpm with 1 bar boost. as youve put its a combination of all the things youve listed. Theres no silver bullet you have to get everything right to get good launches. The main thing that got my times down was going as wide a wheel and tyre combination as possible, so 10" rims and 10" tyres.
 
Nice!! Thanks for that info. Makes total sense the more tire contacting the ground the better traction and harder you can leave!! :) So do you think if I went to a 9" wide rim with my qtp's which are 9.5" wide I might see some gains? My current rims are between 7 or 7.5" wide, ill have to measure one again and see.

I had 7" rims with 10" tyres and couldnt get below 1.69's swapped rims to 10" and started running 1.54, 1.55, 1.56's

so yes it will help a lot.
 
Well this weekend topped off a massive year for us, becoming the first 8’s FWD car in the UK. It’s taken a lot of effort, development, late nights, long weekends, sweat, blood and tears to do it but finally became the first FWD to get in to the 8’s.

Anyone in here use these? I have some Evo VIII wheels I'll be putting on the 1g and it would be nice to know if anyone has had success using them in a FWD. They are this years hotness for the AWD crowd.

26" on FWD transmission gearing is a bit tall. I'm sure the tire is good, but just like the Hoosier that was originally designed for the Evo wheel, it was probably designed with the AWD gearing in mind, in which case the 26" tall tire works great!

26" is tall on a fwd. even with the awd trans swap I lost mph and ET using a 26" tire over the 24.5. Besides the 24.5 as long as it sticks with the fwd trans has the best ratio for the strip.

But if you ever need anything M&H just lemme know. I'm a dealer and get good prices.
 
How bout for the street? This car will see much more street time than track passes.

glad you got this thing to hook! now play with the boost control. :hellyeah:
 
Took the 14b fwd out and figured I'd share my new accomplishments. I finally got the car to cut some high 1.5 60' times. It's been my goal and I'm happy so I wanted to share
 
Finally subscribed to this thread. I pulled a 14.3 @ 107 in my car at the Shooutout this year, which wasn't bad for my first time, but I know I can do better.

Going to the track tomorrow with slicks to beat my personal best. :)

You got the mph for 12's , ## running slicks right? And are you preloading with the ebrake ?
 
nice 60 fts! I too cut my best 60ft of a 1.65 which isnt great but Im glad the changes Im making are making a difference.

It really is so much work. Alignment is a big thing and so is making sure the weight is in the right places.

What slicks and pressures are you running??
