pretty much what the title says, I removed my boost restrictor and did not gain any boost. Has any one ever experienced this? I was trying to just trying to do something small that would give my basic bolt on car some balls LOL

As mentioned by ambush, do a boost leak test. If you find nothing there, then I would get a mbc and see if that helps out. I wouldn't push it up no more than 12psi or so until you at least get a fuel pump rewire done (if you don't have it done already).

I think I will just do a manual boost controller soon. for a quick small upgrade. I have everything necessary to handle the boost I just need a way to get it there

Are you going by the stock gauge or an aftermarket one? In my experience, removing the restrictor is a negligible difference regardless, a proper boost controller is definitely the better option, just be sure you have the supporting parts to handle it (see: knock, boost cut, datalogging, wideband, engine management, etc)

^^^maybe you missed it...he said he has a fmic with a greddy bov!

Also, if you are using the stock boost gauge, that thing isn't worth the cost of throwing it away. It is horrible at best. Hopefully you are using a good aftermarket gauge. If not, I would suggest getting one, along with all the monitoring equipment mentioned. This would be the minimum to make sure things are running relatively smooth!

Mbc would bypass the restrictor and if your boost guage is iffy at best i would invest in a better one if your changing the stock psi, could be very destructive to run to much without knowing.

When I was running just the waste gate actuator with the compressor housing I was doing 10 - 11 psi, and when I did the switch and connected it all up it still maintained the same boost level. ( in saying this I am assuming that my boost gauge is reading correctly seeing as stock boost is 10psi ish) My thoughts are that the solenoid is faulty and actually needs to be replaced if I were to want to continue with this "mod". I am not to worried about it. I thought it would be something neat to try while trying to fix other small things here and there.

By the way guys, I feel as if everything was lined up for me to remove the restrictor and put the solenoid back in place, I don't do anything that I feel would be pushing my car to the limit.

Im not to worried about it, I want to put a new front mount on it, new forge recirc valve and all that. I just wanted to try something. It didnt work I was just wondering if some one would know right off hand. A google search didnt provide much. But like I said, I am still in the early stages of this build. In turn I am not worried about making power at all. I am more worried with cleaning it up, and making sure its running good. Power can come later.

Not many know that there is also a restrictor in the hose between the compressor nipple and the y fitting that goes to the waste gate actuator. If yours is not OEM chances are its missing. I think that causes more pressure to be "seen" at actuator.

Check for this orifice and if missing get one. Boost on mine went up 3 psi.

Ah, see I dont have factory lines. I only have regular vacuum hoses running from the compressor housing and the WGA to the BCS

Thank you very much. That was helpful

Hope it helps. I do not know the size of the restrictor, I did not measure, but I did run without it to see what happened and lost 3 psi boost. That was with the BCS restrictor mod done.

Let us know how yours works out. I think the folks doing the BCS mod need to check this during the mod, as if this restrictor is missing the mod is pointless.

as found here completely pointless LOL, nah im just gonna put a boost controller on it eventually.

I was thinking of getting a cheap manual one, I made one a long time ago and still have it I just dont want to blow up my car LOL

I "improved" it recently with a different spring and a new way to restrict boost. I was thinking of running it inline with the bcs to see what happens.

I will just swap in a 6 bolt if I blow the 7 bolt

...
Why not just do it right, and dont blow anything? Ive ran a cheap $14.99 eBay MBC for 3 years, and no problems. Get a new Boost gauge. You should know how much boost youre actually running.

Is this the stock turbo you are on?
