I couldn't find any newish posts talking about tires for a fwd with decent horsepower. I know that I'll be running 225/45/17 but it's a question of which model/brand. I've see quite a few endorsements for the Dunlop Z1s

I'd like to keep it under $100/tire. Street use. Live in Norcal. 90% dry road driving. Help me not spin the tires when my 20g hits full boost!

Here is my current search via TireRack

I run 255 Nitto 555r's on stock swirly rims ... they seem to hook fairly well.

I'm no expert but no way in hell would you ever get a tire under 100 bucks to hook up with 350+ hp. Like someone else said, some type of DOT drag radial. You will never hook up on a street tires.

I had a 99 GS-T for about 6 years with a hair over 300 whp. I also ran 225/45/17s for about 5 years and tried the bfgoodrich g force sport, Michelin pilot sports, and Michelin pilot sport A/S. None of those tires hooked well. Don't get me wrong. Great tires but the torque hit from the 16g came on too hard. I'm sure it will help that you have a 20g but your still going to struggle to find traction in lower gears with such a narrow tire and even more so in that price range. Tires and brakes are something you don't want to skimp on. They could save your life. Just my 2 cents. I hope this helps.

I ran 245/45/17s nitto 555r on my srt4...and loaned em to a few people. Tires were good for 450 whp 40mph 40 rolls, but anything over (477 @17psi) itd spin in 1st and 2nd, tire pressure was up...My buddy had to raise his 2step because these hooked TOO well on his 750whp evo

Awesome replies. Thanks a ton. I've never had a car like this before and I've clearly underestimated what I'm getting myself in to. This was by far the best response...

Any other tire favorites are appreciated - price agnostic.
