So it's been a long while since I've had a dsm. I had ecmlink on my previous GVR4, I'm looking for another and thought about doing the evo ECU this time. I see a few threads with people using evo 8 ecus, are we now able to use 9 ecus as well? Any difference ? TIA

You would want a 9 mivec head if your going to try a 9 ecu..

I know 8 ecus can be used.So a 9 ecu might not work withought the mivec head.
There is a guy here on tooners thd a 9 mivec head swap on his 2g.

I currently use an evo 8 on my gvr4. I'm starting to love it, its a big learning curve from what I came from. I used to have speed density using an eprom emulator called Ostrich 2.0 and a program called Jackal. I really like that, it was easy to use a straight forward. I sold that car though, and the GVR4 I have now came with a spare evo 8 ecu. I made the conversion harness for it myself, and i'm just getting in to it.

It is a little complicated, but nothing that's impossible to learn. There are tons of tuning options for it, I can't imagine any other tuning device having more. Basically anything you want to do with your car an evo 8 ecu and ecuflash can do it.

If I had the money though id have gone with dmslink, only because its made specifically for our cars and the support is there more for it.

Yea I liked ecmlink , I had SD V3 full. Only reason I asked about a IX ECU is because I can get one from a friend for nearly nothing.

Go for it, the hardest part would probably be finding ecu plugs and pins for it. I'm the guy who put the evo 8 ecu in my dsm years ago. There is no reason an evo 9 wouldn't work as well. I also own an evo 9 so am familiar with the ecuflash options for both.

Im doing a similar thing but im using a 99 ecu from a gst i cant for the life of me find the proper information on how to make the patch harness any help would be appreciated and im sorry if im thread jacking that is not my intensions i just did not want to make another thread when this falls into what im searching for.
