So I noticed my 96 talon is having some serious on and off throttle issues. When cruising around town or even on side streets doesn't matter that gear if I let off completely on the gas and then hit the gas lightly it just jerks the car like it just wants to go. I didn't notice it when I was driving around my evo 8 injectors , but now that I have my fic bluemax 1250cc OMG its horrible. The injectors are scaled perfect. Normal cruising is perfect part throttle , wot. Couldn't be happier. I am not sure if its the injectors being to big. I haven't heard if anyone else is having these problems or its just the combination of all my mods.

check the throttle body to see if your stop screw fell out. i just fixxed mine no more than 3 days ago. i had the same exact problem and when i was messing with my tps i noticed i had no stop screw in. needless to say since i put one my throttle has been smooth to open and close.

The stop screw is in , maybe just needs to be adjusted more. I know tps is at like 6.6 % closed , I know the normal is like 11% and I know after driving and doing a lot of boosting sometimes the throttle plate will get hung up. I kinda figured the throttle stop might need some adjusting , but always nice to get second option.

before you adjust it, rotate the throttle by hand, if its sticky or completely stuck, then its that stop screw

I have done that, cold and when the engine is up to temp. Doesn't stick or feel sticky. Its only gets stuck if I boost it and let the throttle body plate snap back real quick from full throttle to fully closed and that's only once in awhile it will get kinda stuck.

Check your throttle tip in. It may be squirting too much or not enough fuel when you tap the throttle. I was experiencing the same problem. Turns out I had to pull out some tip-in values. Helped out significantly.

It could be as simply as a new tips. I had a wired issue where it seemed like it was functioning normally in dsmlink. It was jerking on and off as if I was stomping the gas then letting off. I changed the rod and it fixed the problem

Throttle tip in? I am using 98/99 ecuflash. I know there is a TPS map in can look it.

It could be worse just changing it out , but honestly the problem started when I went from evo 8 560cc to fic blue max 1250cc and the injectors are dialed in perfectly

To the OP It sounds like the TPS sensor it not set right. Since it's a 2G it has a 4 wire TPS and one is the idle switch. If it's not adjusted correctly, the ECU could be thinking that it is still in idle when you've pushed the gas pedal past the idle position. Then when you reach the point when the idle switch disconnects, the ECU is now the fuel map at a higher position. What it causes, is just what you are describing....almost an on/off switch effect. it would do the reverse when decelerating.

Yeah its like a on off switch , its kinda annoying. The tps at idle is at like 7.8% Yeah it is the same on Decel not as noticeable tho. I am going to look into adjusting it or replace it. Ive tested it and even had it tested when the TB was sent out to be bored out by steve at throttlebodies.com
