I'm going to be straightforward and first say I can't/won't be purchasing these, but I'll also say that I really wish I could! Out of curiosity and the chance of future purchase what is the weight for each option?

Thanks for the compliments!

The kit saves about 30lbs total, and about 11.7lbs of that is rotating mass weight savings!

The Scalloped rotor option saves another 2.7lbs.

I know this is going to come off as a retarded question as I realize full well this is a drag kit and you guys aren't exactly autocross oriented.

I have a 94 Mirage hatch that I daily and use for autocross. There are NO kits for the DSM's that fit under 15's that are NOT drag oriented (that i can find)

My hatch weighs ~2500lbs with me in it, it is usually at 2400lbs with me in it for race day. Our autocross courses are 99% 2nd gear (60mph tops).

The rotor size is perfect for my application and I honestly can't see why I wouldn't be able to use this kit with the regular rotors considering my car weighs at least 300lbs less than a DSM out the box. Especially if they will fit under my 15x7 Kosei K4R wheels.

Am I barking up the wrong tree?

FYI, the Outlander upgrade fits some 15s (They clear my Drag DR17s).

I already have Evo3 brakes up front (awd dsm). I am after 4 pots and less weight. For $800 you really can't do any better than that:D

What is the difference between this kit and the one offered by TCE?

Just to clarify, I'm assuming that weight savings is from the DSM twin piston front calipers, not the smaller single ones. You'd save about 20 lbs switching if you had the small brakes on, still well worth it and especially the rotating mass and improved braking! :D

These use a normal wilwood pad and rotor?
That way replacement parts are easy to get?

I'm interested in the diff. between these and the TCE

The only differences besides the color options are the STM kit looks to use a smaller/lighter 4 piston caliper design. The rotors are slightly different too.

Caliper, pads, brackets and hardware = 4.85 lbs
Scalloped rotor and hat = 6.5 lbs
Standard rotor and hat = 9.35 lbs

The posted weights were indeed for a 2g duel caliper setup, my car.:thumb: Now you're free to do your own math.

Replacement parts are easy to come by, we almost always have them in stock, and they are rather nicely priced.

As far as the Mirage goes, there are plenty of these kits on the street without an issue. Clearly it's not it's intended purpose, but lets face it, they're slightly larger and have more clamping force than any stock dsm brake. I wouldn't think you're going to have an issue autocrossing them with your light car, but at the end of the day...that decision is yours.
