Hey everyone. Well I ordered a BNIB .55 ar bep housing for my H1E and I finally got it two weeks later today. Opened the box and it is really shinny and new like advertised. I had recently purchased one from a member on here for 20 shipped because it had 4 broke bolts. I couldn't get them out so I needed another one. The one with the broke bolts has 6 bolts to bolt the turbo to the housing. The new bep has only 4. The part numbers on them are completely different. The one with 6 bolts sits perfectly flush with the turbo and is a little bigger then the BEP one with 4 bolts.

My problem is the new one I got will not sit flush at ALL. I'm getting so frustrated with This dam thing. I have read a bunch of threads before about something like this and all they did was pound it with a rubber Mallet. So I do this for about ten minutes (not strait 10mins.) it will not sit flush. I mounted it to the turbo and bolted it down. I tightened the bolts and made the turbo fire the way I wanted. It spins freely but is not sitting flush?

I also notice the 6 bolt bep has a deeper ledge then that of the 4 bolt bep. Check out these pictures I have edited and posted.

Would it be ok to run it like this or what? I, tired of spending money and really am pissed about this car most likely not being ready for the shootout. Or atleast CMI in Sacramento. Can someone please help me out and ease my frustration and anger? Please? Lol.

Thanks for all that does help.

Are you sure the BEP housing is for an HX40? I've never seen a BEP Holset housing with only 4 bolts. I bought mine brand new from SIM 7 months ago and it has 6 holes...

Are you sure its for a holset turbo? Looking at the top left picture it looks like the exhaust wheel is much smaller on the exducer then the opening in the housing, you can almost see the edge of the induce on the wheel. Post a picture of the inside of it like the one you have on bottom right corner. Maybe this housing was machined for a garrett turbo. I had to machine a garrett housing for a holset turbo and that's exactly what I had to machine deeper is that ledge.

I understand what it looks like or doesn't but the part number is on there. Th2 or something like that for the hx40. That's what I don't understand and the other one that has 6 holes doesn't have the part number for it indicating hx40. Ill post another picture right now. Give me a minute.

Here's another picture.

Also the guy who sold it to mean this site or it might have been ecmlink forums but one or the other specifically told me it was for hx40 and posted his ad with that in the description. I don't know, but this thing won't go in. It goes in the other one with 6 holes but I have 4 broke bolts I can't get out and needs some helicoiled. The guy quoted me 250 for labor so I just purchased this new one.

Regardless of the numbers on it, it's the wrong housing for your turbo. As mentioned, the diameter of the turbine compared to the diameter of the housing is way off, not to mention the other issues.

You need to call the person/vendor you got it from and try to figure out where the miscommunication is.

That part number is TMS2. It's for an S200 series Borg Warner.

You must be logged in to view this image or video.

Also, $250 to remove 4 broken bolts is insane. A 5-peice Easy Out kit is $10...

Look inside the housing where the inducer of the exhaust wheel rolls in to the exducer, its that nice rounded edge. You will notice how the one that fits the HX40 perfectly has a tighter radius vs the one that doesn't fit. Garrett turbos tend to have more of a gradual radius in relation to holset HX35/40 turbos. To me that's almost a dead giveaway that its been machined for a garrett turbo. Whoever sold you that housing either lied to you or didn't know better themselves.

Looking at the picture of the housing with broken bolts I can see that you still have 2 good holes on the opposite side from each other. Carefully grind the tops of the broken bolts so they don't stick out of the housing. Go buy a right combination of drill bit and tap (15-25 dollars at a local parts store). Take those new brackets you got with the other housing and use the two good holes to bolt them up to the housing. Mart the holes on the opposite side of the brackets then drill and tap the new holes. That will be the easiest thing to do instead of trying to drill out those hardened steel bolts and 4 bolts will be more then enough to hold the turbo inside that housing.

If you post some measurements of the inside of that housing Justin might be able to tell you what garrett turbine wheel it will fit, I don't know to much about garrett wheel sizes I try to stay away from them :)

Just noticed you posted a new picture of the numbers on the side of it and I think WES is right about the numbers on it. I just went out in to the garage and looked at the BEP HX40 .55 housing I have here and it has T3H2 on the side, its a T3 flange in and Mitsubishi flange out and it is for an HX40.

Thanks guys for all the help. I just kept posting pictures because I guess I didn't want it to be the wrong one. This stuff keeps happening to me. The guy obviously ripped me off because I kept asking millions of questions about the housing and he kept telling me it was for the Holset. I asked him about the holes. I told him mine has 6 and he said strait up, no, Holset housings have 4 bolt holes and the one you have is the wrong one. I'm just really pissed off right now because I really needed this thing to work of for me.

Ok update: so I finally got in touch with the guy. He told me he was only the middle man and that he was selling it for a friend. He never told me that. He told me he got this for payment or something like that. I asked him for pictures and he said ok hold on. He sent me some pictures and to tell you the truth I never noticed it at first but, I swear the turbo it's bolted to is a BW or Garrett turbo. And then he said that his friend sent him those pictures. Lie!!!!! I asked for a refund, he said:

A. Ok, send it back first and then he'll/his friend will send the money back or
B. he'll refund me $40 to get it machined? I mean can I even get this dam thing machined or not? I know I can get the ledge machined, but what about that dam gap between the wheel?

Please let me know what I should do. I am a very trusting person when it comes to honorable forums like this one and link. I guess I need to stop being that way, but everyone on here has always been good to me and has helped me out every time I needed it. So I'm asking for some help and advice on what to do next. I'm tired of throwing money around and loosing every time.

Here is what you should do. If this guys is not going to give you your money back then at least take that $40 dollars, its not all of it but its better then nothing. You can always sell that housing, take some detailed pictures and measurements and post them on here and we will try to figure out what it is for so you know what to advertise it as. Like WES said, it might be for a BW s200 series turbo but measurements sould tell more.

If you still have the other housing with broken bolts you can send it to me via USPS. It would be here in a few days and shouldn't cost you more then 15-20 dollars if you put it in a flat rate box. Also send the new brackets that you got with the new housing. If for whatever reason I can not get the bolts out I'll drill and tap 2 new holes matching the new brackets. 4 bolts and the new brackets will work just fine. I don't want any money for doing the work just send me the same amount of money you spend on shipping to me so it will cover the return shipping cost. I'll also give it a little port job to make that .55 housing flow a little more. I should have it done and out to you with in few days. If you want to do that PM me and I'll give you my address.

Your a great guy alex! Thats awesome!

You have been TONS of help with my problems and I cant tell you how much I appreciate it.

Thanks again!!

To the OP... boostdriven (alex) is a very smart guy and great with turbine housings. I personally wouldnt hesitate at all to send it to him for him to fix it :thumb:

What a kind gesture. OP, this is one skilled dude offering to help. I wouldnt hesitate!

If the transaction went through paypal, call paypal claim support and speak to a representive and work it out. They should get your money back!!!. But first put a claim on paypal. Will take could of days or a week but your getting your money back. If it didnt go through paypal, then get the $40 your best deal.

Oh, they will ask you to ship the item back back, make sure you take pictures of the housing and send paypal the tracking number. That way he will never deny that he did not get it. Since paypal claim will track the item via the tracking number you provided.

Thank you Alex for the help. You are a very kind person and I thank you for everything you are doing for me. You don't come by too many people like that and believe me, everything is much much appreciated.

I did open a claim through paypal. Guess what this retard did? He declined to give me a refund and I escalated it. I know it's going to take some time now that he did that but worse comes to worse I will do a charge back to my debit card. I texted him about the declining part and guess what this guy said? He said he is going to drag this out long as he can that way it takes longer than normal for me to get my money back. He actually thinks he will beat it and I won't get it back. I'm keeping all the texts from this guy and I'm trying to see if I can find out who he is on other forms so I can let it be known to the public that we have a scammer in our forums. I don't know how to give bad feedback on the ecmlink forums or else I would let people know there too, but I don't know how to. I really don't want this guy to do this to another person so I emailed ecmlink about it. Hopefully they can ban him or something because that would suck if he keeps doing it and getting away with it because no one knows what he's doing.

Why not just take the original housing To a machine shop have the bolts extracted. They will likely charge you 5-10 bucks a hole.

Keep in mind this isn't the place to slander individuals / freelancers / businesses as it's against our tech forum posting policy. What's said on Facebook or other forums / social media sites has nothing to do with this site, however. ;)

I did take it a machine shop like mentioned in my previous post. They quoted me $250 because he said it had a lot of work. Which I knew he was just trying to make way more than what was there. And I know this isn't the place, well I do now. I had to re read the rules. Thanks for the tip though. Last thing I want to do is get booted for saying the wrong thing.

Anyhow, Alex has helped me out a lot. I just got done talking to him and got some pictures. The thing looks brand spankin new. Thank you Alex.

Take it to a different machine shop, that is outrageous. You could also just weld a washer and nut on the and try to back them out.

I got your housing all fixed up and shipped out to you today, you should have it on wednesday. Here are few pictures of what it looks like all finished, I belt sanded both flanges so you will have a better seal :thumb:
