Am I getting fked over or just dumb: Few months ago my clutch went on my 3g(60k miles). Put it in aamco, got a call back saying clutch, flywheel and shifter cables need to be replace, so went out and got all three. After $600+ in labor later I got the car back. As soon as I started it, it sounded like clicking whenever the clutch was engaged/clutch pedal was not pressed. Called them up and they said bring it by and they'll look, few days later prior to bringing it in I was driving and clutch lost pressure. Called them up they said bring it in and it'll check and apparently the master cylinder went so there goes another $300 and still no answer about the clicking noise. Well few weeks ago I called them and for the final time asked them to check, put it in and got a call saying its going to be $450 just to take the trans out and look at it and find the problem. Said fk it, whatever. Got a call back saying apparently my trans went, clutch and fly wheel and gonna cost $3k to fix. Said put the trans back on and Ill pay for labor and fix it myself, he refused to. Said he doesnt know if he can put back on and I cant tow it out without a trans on it. Started asking me to find someone to borrow money from or get one of their loans and not taking no for a answer. Every time Id say just put it back on he said Im stupid for wasting money and wasting his time. Said to him how am I wasting your time when Im gonna pay u $450 just to take off, look at and put back on a transmission? He said its gonna cost more than $450, told me sleep on it and call him in the morning. Said whatever and called back, still not taking no for a answer and asking all these personal questions on why I can't just fix it, its a great car and worth fixing, I can make more money if I sell it after I fix it, he can try and find me a better price..... Really lost as hell on what to do. :banghead:

your gettin screwed. Sorry you need to find a better place to get work done.
 
Have you gone by and looked at the car?

Find a more trust worthy mechanic, and he cant legally keep your car if you pay the bill

You can get it towed without a trans also

Thats what I thought but he said you cant since the drive shaft or some ish.
 
Ya that guy is taking you for a ride by the time you get all done you could have bought a newer car. Theres no reason you should have had to pay for them to look at it also if there double checking there work they did. Most shops will diagnose and fix there own mistakes at no cost to the customer. This is why I do all my own work to many shady people out there.
 
I have a feeling he wants your car. He wants to tell you its going to cost x amount of dollars, and that you better off letting it go or something. I'd do whatever you need to get your car out of there, you are going to spend all this money and it is most likely going directly into his pocket and nothing is going into the car.
 
Man I would go down there face to face and tell him straight up that if he doesn't make right on this deal that you will get a lawyer and call every single news station in the area and report his ass as a shady mechanic.... What I dont understand is you had a clutch and all that stuff done and then your tranny goes out? How did that ruin your clutch and flywheel? Sounds like he may have did some cheap ass work.

OP... your gonna have to show your teeth a little bit and go down there face to face and tell him how it is.
 
i think your getting worked over. when they pulled the trans the first time they should have been able to tell how you messed up the 1st clutch or if it was just its time and it is irresponsible of them to just toss a new clutch back on with out checking every thing else out for you. when i ran a shop i had all of my inspections done on the cars such as breaks, air filters, tires, trans fluid, stuff like that FOR FREE!! its called up selling. i find something you dont know is wrong and i get to sell it to you. not only do i offer you a "DEAL" on it but i would also come out like a hero for doing so. this guy.... he is just trying to pull something over on you. even if this guy isnt reped by the BBB you can still call and report them. i know that aamco is repped by AAA and you can call them up and say something to them as well. go there with your own tow truck and hall her out of there. dont let that guy work on her any more befor he does something else to her that will cause her more pain and your wallet as well.
 
It can 100% be towed without the trans in though? Its a 3G not a 2 or 1 for the record. Its my DD.
 
300 dollars for a master cylinder, you need to start getting your hands on the car yourself. I once had a similar problem with a tranny shop in Brandon FL. But that was before I started to do all my own work and it was just the master and slave not the whole tranny, then said my clutch was bad after they replaced both the parts. Id do what you had to do to get your car back and fix it yourself. Let him know face to face and that you will take him to court if need be. Good luck man.
 
Im going to pm you my number. Call me within the next 30 minutes or tomorrow. I will help you get your car back from the shop (I live in jax beach) and get it over to Modern automotive where it will get fixed by a certified mitsu mechanic.

If what you say is true, then you've been screwed over.. BAD.

I have a truck too, so I could help you go up there and tow it if we need to. I'm not looking for any money, just cover cost of the trailer, its like $50 from u-haul.

:confused: sheptrans, tretrans, etc will build you a stage 3 tranny for less, your getting seriously raped what a douche bag.:nono:WTF:barf::barf::barf::barf::barf:
 
Better bring a flat bed if you want to tow it. If the axles are out than the front wheel bearing can separate and the wheel fall off if a wheel lift is used.
 
Called them today and asked to speak to someone else. Got another guy on the phone and he refused to let me just take the car with the trans out so I said fk it put the trans in and I'll be picking it up Wednesday. $450 to take trans out, look at it and put it back in smh. Not sure where to go from here since Im thinking they did something that might of caused this BS. My trans was PERFECT prior to letting them change the clutch.

They can not legally do that. Go up with there with a trailer and pick it up. If they refuse, call the state police.
 
Man that sucks thats why i learned to do 99 percent of my dsm work myself, dont trust too many shops only one with those things i cant do, buddy got a lift, and works on cars and builds engines.
Go get your car and at least get a manual to learn how to do some things all pretty straight foward once you get in thered get dirty.

First put it in to see what the hell the noise was then they came at me with $450 to take out look at it and put back in however whatever they find wrong theyll fix and just charge parts. So Im thinking it is what it is just want this ish fixed so I can drive it so I don't waste gas driving my 2g. Then thats when they hit me with the whole $3k ish after they took it apart. :banghead:
 
to me it sounds like they are trying to get a Mechanic's Lien on the car. I think after so long they can get a title for whatever vehicle and turn around and sell it. I was reading an article on yahoo a wile back about people doing this and it sucks. I know back in the day, Jax had Ken on your side. I'd look into something like that, call a lawyer, BBB, anyone that I could. That sucks they are doing this to you. I hope you get your car out of there and its not too messed up. I'd get every DSM owner that I know together and show up at the shop and get the car LOL
 
I'm with Chris on this one. Just another untrustworthy scumbag preying on people to take their cash. Can be go.back at the guy for taking him for a ride on the same problem over and over or is that just for new cars with the lemon law?
