running into some problems with the car.went to setup antilag/2 step and realized the vss isn't reading anything.my speedo works but the aem is not reading a speed.I made sure its set to 90-94 turbo model.i checked for continuity were gauge cluster plugs in to the vss pin on ecu.this is also making it tough to get a solid tune put onto the car.its a 92 eagle talon tsi awd with a aem ems v2 plug and play,gt35r,supporting mods. any help would be appreciated

When you go to the VSS options, have you selected the proper input? If you want post a screenshot of what your options look like and I'll see if I spot anything out of place.

A buddy called aem and I guess they had a batch of ecu's that will not receive the signal from a 1g.they will not send a new one and they told me to convert to a 2g vss.not to happy with aem at the moment.

so i have done some searching and no one seems to have an answer on keeping the stock speedo and use a 2g vss. Any ideas?I would rather try an make a different speedo go into same location if i cant use stock but not sure that will work because how the 1g cluster hooks up...

Any possibility of wiring it up to a different input on the AEM? Would that work or be a way around the problem?

From what im getting they are different signals and the aem wont pick up the 1g one.

Gotcha. That's a real bummer man. :(. I'll see what I can dig up when u have some spare time. Sure someone has to have a 1G with the VSS being logged. I mean, I would think...

Seems possible but then again im not sure if the aem supports that either.I plan on calling them today and giving them some shit on this.seems I should of just used dsm link.

And the only thing I can dig up on the 2g swap is put one in wire it up and switch to electric speedo.

Just seems like too much of a hassle for something so expensive. I'd be retry bummed too man. :(

I have 2 step and antilag set up on my 1G, my tuner was an engineer for AEM and helped design the V2. His contact is

My friend just got series 2 in his 1g and is unable to get his VSS working also ( bigggg surprise). I will be running series 2 as well and I Would like to find a solution to this fluke. I called AEM yesterday and asked them what was going on and they said it works totally fine on there shop 1g laser. And this should work fine on the calibration they give you. But in reality it DOESN'T work properly and for a $1550 ecu, it should be working.
Any updates on this? I've been searching the AEM forums and can't find an answer. We did find out how to read 255 for the 2 step to work but thats it.

I bought a new V2 last week, AEM was having a blow out sale for $899.72, contact your authorized AEM dealer to see if the sale is still on. Have your friend contact the tuner I mentioned above.

If your sensor is not picking up a signal then it won't work. Mitsubishi have had issues with them. You may need new speed sensors. I had two other tuner shops look for the right wire and not find it. Mitch found it right away then turned it on as a function in the program. It's just a suggestion.

Wow that seems like the best fix yet. But where can I get it? It is the Terratrip T007 but I can't find it anywhere especially in US currency.
Where did you get yours? Thank you.

I think I will have to get this. Thanks for the link. STM will be tuning the car so maybe they know the settings to use and if not then I will order this piece.

So I consulted Mitch my tuner about the VSS issue you guys were having and here is his response.

"Should ask those guys if the parameter ”T3PER Period” changes when
driving - T3 is the vss input and the ”T3PER Period” value shows th
e time between vss sensor pulses. If that value is changing, the vs
s is being read in and making ”vss calibration” non-zero will make
vehicle speed show something. :)"

"Yes, and I don't believe everything I read on the internet. :) The digital input for the VSS between the V1 & V2 is identical (unless aem had a production/quality issue) but the VSS calibration value in the aem provided startup calibration is set to zero so Vehicle Speed will read zero, even if the ecu is seeing the vss signal on the T3 input!
If it is a hardware production/quality issue, the ecu can be repaired to work in 5-10min."

also, firmware version could be issue too."

So Mitch was able to get it to work or those settings were an attempt? My car is currently down and I'm trying to set up a 2 step using a clutch switch but would like to have a vss 2 step as well and thus us what I was able to find. I personally haven't tried these settings yet but my friend says they work more or less as an on/off reading. Any other input?
