just got my first dsm but not my first mitsu. ihad a 3g eclipse as my first purchased car on my own. loved the car and had it for about 3yrs but found an amazing deal on a mustang gt and ended up selling the car to a friend that i new would treat it as meticulously as i did so that i could afford the mustang. unfortunately some teenage chick decided that where ever she was going was more important than paying attention to the road and decided to pull out in front of me to make a u turn and long story short my 3yr time and $13000 invested between upgrades and the $6000 i paid for the car were totaled in a matter of seconds. soo after countless hours of back and forth nonsense i walked away with $5300 (after paying the bank my final 2 payments on the car). so then began the search for my pony's replaced, which was horrible at first and nothing was good enough to even come close to taking my pony's place, until i stumbled upon this 2gb that was gorgeous. so i decided to jump on it, at the time i though $5800 was an awesome price for a 2g awd that the majority of the work done and seemed like it was done right. i originally planned on the car being a small project fixing the cracked valve cover and finishing the rest of the upgrades ie. the throttle body, intake manifold, cracked exhaust manifold, rear diff rebuild, larger cold side fmic pipes, and the do it yourself autozone down pipe ( im kind of an ocd freak when it comes to my cars, everything is meticulously maintained and done correctly. no shorcuts for me cause they just end in disaster resulting in having to spend more money than if you fixed it right in the first place). yeah that plan went out the window after about 4 months. so here i am only 6 months later and ive already gone and redone all of the wiring due to an unprotected wire for something, no clue what, that had just been cut off and made contact with the firewall as i went to shift, replaced the alternator twice (ended up being a bad ecu), replaced the starter, currently have a new valve cover being fitted with new an fittings, had mike at 4gperformance redo my whole down pipe from the turbo to the flex pipe, replaced the water pump, replaced the camshaft timing belt gear ( apparently only had two of the bolts in it and decided it was tired of being on the car and when for a walk while i was sitting at a redlight on my way to work one day), corroded burnt out ignition transistor, replacing the ecu(still waiting to get it back from dsmlink after being socketed), replacing improper iridium plugs and bad wires, and now the icing on the cake having to try and track down a replacement bell housing due to the fact that the throw out bearing not being lubricated and locking up on the sleeve breaking it clean off the bellhousing. although alll of these problem would deter many new dsm enthusiasts from ever wanting to own another one, let alone the problem child they already have, im not scared. i know that once i get past all of this shade tree/ i want i running now bs ill have an amazing car ( my fiance thinks completely oppositely and wants me to get rid of it as soon as possible but what does she know about guys attraction to amazing and funn cars, no offense to any fellow female enthusiasts, shes just not a car person at all and thinks that as long as it gets you from point a to point be reliably its an amazing car). the only problem i have now is that i just recently found out that my fiance is pregnant so money is getting tighter by the day. i know this has probably been a long write up and a lot of me going on and on about my problems and i apologize but any and all help that i can get (especially with finding a new bellhousing, mike at 4g said he may know somebody that has one but i like to make sure i have multiple options before i count on one source) so any and all help is appreciated.
