alright well im new here.. names albert and i just got a 2g, its a 98 gs with a 5 speed, bought it with high miles and rebuilding it starting november when i have the money.. so hello everyone

Welcome. If I were you I would just start with a compression test to see the health of the engine, if compression is still really good I wouldn't worry about rebuilding it unless you plan on boosting it. I've seen quite a few 420a's hit the 300k mark.

I would however check the condition of the timing belt right away if you don't know exactly when it was replaced along with the water pump, I would add it in my to do list asap.

Welcome a gs can take you a long way. Take care of it and do a lot of maintenance. Don't try to be fast and furious.
