Ok so I went to look at what was posted as a holset turbo for $100 so I thought this might be a good deal or it might need a rebuild but I go ahead and look at it anyway. I am pretty sure this is not a holset but maybe a clone. It's a larger turbo but it only has 6 inducer blades. There were not any markings that I remember on the exhaust housing but there was a ID plate on the turbine housing. Can anyone tell me anything about this turbo or is it really worth the $100? It's way bigger than my 16g and will ###### get me closer to the 400hp goal I have for the car but I just want to get an idea of what this turbo actually is. It is super clean and no shaft play but I really don't want to slap on a eBay turbo and have it fail. The only thing that makes me think its a eBay turbo is it says turbocharger on the turbine housing

That's a genuine Chinese T04E knock-off. You can get them brand new from eBay for $150-200.

What would be a good price to pay for it? It looks new. Or is it even worth it?

Absolutely buy that turbo.... And out it on your lawn mower and take a video of it because I'm sure we would all like to see it!

Long long time ago when i did a half assed job turboing a 420a i used that exact same ebay turbo. LOL within 5 minutes it blew a seal and smoked like crazy. I had a huge drain tube and it was oiled properly, but that was pure chinese junk.

I would ask him to pay YOU to take that piece of garbage.

Save your money. Do yourself and us the favor

Thanks again. Love seeing all the sarcastic comments, LOL. Still think I'm gonna buy it, it seems it would make a cool paperweight :hellyeah:

i see these on CL all the time for 150-200 and i try to tell the ppl theyre sh!t an not worth a quarter that. ive bought 2-3 of them for 30 bux new and given them to ppl as joke gifts (my freinds and i have a unique sense of humor)

Well, ive heard the housings arent bad..... I guess if you have to look at the one tiny upside. But is the housing even worth 10$? You make the call.
Then again, these are hit and miss. About 1000:1 odds but maybe you get lucky and it doesnt blow up or pop the oil seal instantly.

You shoudl take one of those up to the local "honda spot". You know, every town has one on a saturday night usually at a Sonic or other drivethru fast food place LOL.. Marked with ### ass neon lights under cars usually. Not an uncommon sight even in rural areas. Give it to one of them, they deserve it haha

I didn't even read the thread but just by the picture and the word turbocharger on it I would not get it. Good thing you asked for opinions before you went and baught it.

What are your goals as far as turbo decision? If your looking only for 300 then I would spend 50 more and just get a 14b. Or even can find a t28 or 16g for a little more. Check the classifieds and do research before committing. Hope this helps my friend.

Ok sorry for not reading your thread. I just got done reading it and I see your goal is 400. Oh and anyone trying to sell a holset and it doesn't say holset smack them hard LOL. I say if you run e85 and push your 16g to the limit you'll reach your goal. But personally I like to run a conservative set up and stay in the turbos effeciency range. So I would get a 20g or maybe look into a holset hx35. Fp also has a good line of turbos that would be great for you goal while still spooling fast and being a reliable daily driver. Sorry again for not reading before posting.
