Alright so I have the head off my car and there is alot of burnt nasty smelling oil in everything, so I want to clean it out and also clean my valves from all the carbon buildup, aswell might have to get the head resurfaced (does anyone know of any good techniques to getting the head clean without resurfacing)

When I was taking the valves rollers off that are hooked up to the lifters I only noticed that after they are all marked, is there a certain order? seemed odd to me seeing they are all the exact same thing. I only have the exhaust valve off as of now

I am thinking on getting a tub with some parts cleaning solvent to let the parts soak in over night to get that oil all out. Anyone recommended any certain solvents?
Also any advice on where to look for wear on the lifters, or valves or any advice on doing any headwork please let me know, this is the first time Ive had the head off a car and just want to learn everything I can possible about the 4g63.

People will frown upon this but I use oven cleaner, the non smelling kind. I spray it, let it soak 5 minutes, repeat. After about 5 times and some toothbrushing it looks good as new. Make sure its the no fume kind though as it is less harsh and wont cause pitting in aluminum like the harsh smelling kind. The blue can of great value stuff (walmart brand) is what I use. It will cause a small amount of oxidation but its purely cosmetic. Then just wash it with a water hose and make sure you get the valve guides and valves clean and dry where they don't rust.

What about varsol? paint thinner, is that hard on aluminum?

or have a machine shop hot tank it to remove the crap that cant be easily scrubbed out.

unfortunately there really isnt any machine shops locally that I know of that do head work, or that I would overly trust. Trying to avoid giving my parts to someone else the most I can.

ALSO, check out this awful AWFUL casting and cleanup on this head on the inside pics below. I mean come on Chrysler, you cant clean up those edges or punch the rest of the valley for the coolant/oil(not sure which it is) Its just embarrasing really, shit flakes off with my fingers at some parts. imagine them aluminum chunks going through the pistons....
